As predicted last week there was some shake-up in the playoff rankings this week. We saw Tennessee take Oklahoma to the wood shed and Utah and Oklahoma State battle it out for a Utah victory. We also got a new Group of Five contender as Northern Illinois was bludgeoned by Buffalo this past weekend. This weekend figures to have a huge impact on the top of the bracket where we're getting Georgia and Alabama facing off against each other, winner putting themselves in the conversation for the number one overall seed.
We're also getting some other top 25 matchups that will affect the playoff rankings, Louisville at Notre Dame (I'll be in attendance!), Illinois at Penn State, and Oklahoma State at Kansas State. Illinois is coming off of a big win against Nebraska, can they keep up the momentum and take one from Penn State? Ohio State figures to get a test from Michigan State on the road, as Sparty is having a surprising start to their season. Washington State has a legit chance at beating Boise State on the road, which would hand the Broncos a second loss and likely eliminate them from the G5 playoff spot.
