Northern Illinois upset of Notre Dame sent shockwaves through the playoff picture this past weekend. The Huskies went from MAC obscurity to launching themselves squarely into the playoff picture and launching Notre Dame into the trash heap with Florida State. The Huskies blocked a 62 yard field goal attempt by the Irish with no time remaining to pull off the shocker in South Bend. AND got $1.2 million dollars for it! As Jon Rothstein would say, "the epitome of brutality." Indeed.
This week also saw Boise State play the plucky underdog and give Oregon a lot more than they wanted. As a result Oregon probably slid in the bracket a bit. Ashton Jeanty is proving to be a hot commodity as a running back for the Broncos and will keep them in the playoff hunt all season long, as long as he's healthy.
Speaking of teams on the trash heap, welcome Michigan! After the Longhorns came into their house and made themselves at home, including planting the Longhorn at midfield after the game, I'd say the Horns will make a case for SEC title contender. Michigan, meanwhile, found how out much they're going to miss Jimmy Khakipants.
