Wyoming @ Utah Valley

I will be there live and in person!! I'm excited to see them play in front of my own eyes!

wow. UVU over did their player introduction/pre game a little for their second ever televised game.

dang. nance two straight possessions he should have scored on. when he develops a quicker move after catching the ball, he'll be dunking those ones.

UVU good motion offense confusing the Pokes. UVU collapsing to balls put in middle. Looks like no interior scoring means probable loss for Pokes. UVU almost certain to get the 58 pts max Pokes have held opponents to. Lets see what Schroyer comes up with. Is this a case of the Pokes thinking easy win?

Schroyer?

terrible goaltending call on washington. Just because the ball is three feet from the shooters hand doesn't mean it's on it's way down. He blocked that at the top of it's arc. I hate the way shot blocks are called GT or fouls.

Not one of our better defensive (or offensive either) efforts, but it's a win on the road. This was a good game to come off the holiday break though.

Pokes got badly out-rebounded (32 to 21) and lost the 2nd-chance points battle 17 to 8, but sort of made up for it by getting 18 turn-over points. The rebounding really did look weak.

I thought this was probably our best offensive performance. 50% fg, 11 3pt made and 87% Ft. Top it off we did that away from Laramie.
I thought our D was horrible and they killed us on the boards.

You are right, we were shooting well but I didn't think we moved well or got the ball inside very well. The zone defense they used had a lot to do with that though. The way to beat a zone defense is to hit the outside shots and we did do that. I agree, rebounding was our weakest part of the game - they got way too many second and third chances on offense.

Agree with your first sentence. We just happened to hit some perimeter shots tonight, but I wouldn't say we were effective on offense. Shooting them out of the zone is certainly one way to attack it, but we need to attack the gaps in the zone and break it down. Didn't see enough of that and when we did see it we didn't convert.

Defense was poor, but have to give UVU some credit. They hit some shots and played well.

The biggest problem for this team continues to be rebounding. One of the potential downsides to playing a zone is the tendency to give up offensive rebounds (don't have a body on a body, etc.) and we didn't make them pay at all in that regard in the way our opponents have worked us on the offensive glass when we are in a zone.

UVU wins this game if the coach benches his kid. What is he doing taking the last two shots? He was 1-9 for the night. Williams should have taken the last two shots for UVU, he was on fire.

I thought our offense was pretty good. only 7 TO compared to 16 assists. Waddell only had 1 reb. That can't happen. Nance had 4 rebounds in 10 minutes. UVU starting F's had 17 rebounds.
