An issue that I brought up with Gags on the radio during one of our segments last year...how do you feel about Wyoming football and basketball being promoted and marketed outside of Laramie?
I remember talking with a friend of mine in the Denver media, Terry Frei from the Denver Post -- we had a conversation about Wyoming athletics, and we both felt that the because the school is essentially the only game in the state, that the state itself should be more enthusiastic in regard to supporting the team, particularly game days/nights at The War.
The is no question that nuts & bolts Wyoming fans are the greatest, and that they support the football and basketball program with enthusiastic passion, but how do you feel about the way that the state itself feels about the Pokes programs?
Questions:
>Does the university do enough in your opinion to foster a state wide spirit for the football & basketball programs -- do they canvass the state at certain points throughout the year building a fan base that can continue to grow from year to year?
>Are you happy with the stadium and the arena? Personally speaking I love both venues, I much more enjoy War Memorial than either Folsom Field or Hughes Stadium, and our arena-aud for basketball blows away the arena's at both CU and CSU.
>If your answer to my first inquiry is; 'no', what more could be done, what more would you do if you had an opportunity to increase the overall awareness and visibility of Cowboys football & basketball...given that I believe we all know a certain ceiling does exist.
Thanks in advance for your considered thoughts...
