Can someone translate this for me? Does this mean we have the easiest schedule in the entire country? Just asking.

Weakest OOC in the MWC on paper though.
Exactly. The RPI used for this statistic has Cal at 93. They're expected be a top 15 team by the end of the year. Of course, other teams will be facing opponents that have improved from last year. But Cal is one of the better teams, possibly the best, that any MW team will face this year.LanderPoke said:On paper. We have to play Cal, who's going to be a juggernaut this year, but was mediocre last year.

Cal should be a top 20 RPI all year so we will obviously go up. Still going to be a better out of conference schedule than CSU anyways.

Yes it will, and he only used that metric to slam Wyoming. I'm not saying Wyoming has a stellar OOC schedule, but it's not the worst in the conference. CSU doesn't have a top 15 PAC12 school coming to Moby. They're also not facing the same UNI team that beat us last year. Those are 2 examples of many that destroy the metric he used.
Absolutely. This team will need some cupcakes to get their confidence up and get their understanding of the game at this level where it needs to be. Come conference I expect this team to hold their own against anyone but maybe Boise and UNLV.NowherePoke said:wyopig said:NebraskaCowboy said:Matt Stephens wrote this article and he may be the worst beat writer out there. Our schedule is weak, but I don't have a problem with that this year. I was critical of Shyatt's scheduling last season because I felt that we had an at-large type of team, but we didn't put together an OOC schedule that would allow us to earn an at-large bid.
This year, we have a very young team and a soft schedule is fine. Try to build up some wins and build some experience/confidence for the future.

Pokes got hot when they needed to last year and it paid off. When it comes to NCAA basketball, rankings during the season really don't mean crap. Especially an artificial and sporadic "#25" ranking or so. Gives players and fans a false sense of reality.
I am going to try and not get too caught up in the W-L total until later next month.
