I kind of doubt Allen looked like a superstar on in recruiting tapes, or more teams than Eastern Michigan and Indiana might have shown interest. Also unlikely he would've only had 2 stars.

Allen's Juco tape was really impressive. Then again, lots of people can look good on tape at lower levels.

I think this kid is exactly what we want. Come in with the intangibles, learn the system for 2 years and I bet he comes out firing like a stud

His ability to escape pressure is a huge asset. It's one of those things that makes guys like Josh Allen and Brett Smith so dangerous. He will need to learn how to manipulate the pocket at the next level instead of bailing, but most quarterbacks do(Allen included). Those two years behind Allen should really help his development.

His arm strength is ok but not spectacular. He looks more Kellen Moore to me than Josh Allen. That's fine as long as he puts in the work to be mentally prepared.

I really like seeing a high school kid look at multiple receivers instead of locking in on the first option. He keeps his eyes downfield when the pocket breaks down which is also a big deal.

There is a lot to like about this kid. The coaching staff has a solid base to build from with him.

A lot of good points here. His mobility is something I'm definitely excited about. Look through Bohl's recent top QBs and that's a pretty common trait. The comp to Moore in arm talent is interesting, mostly because I'm not sure exactly how you're rating Moore's arm. Where is he in comparison to Brett Smith in that area, for example?

About the same in that they can put the ball downfield, but can't do it with much zip. Most of his throws seem to be floaters over the top rather than bullets. I think his arm looks pretty similar to Brett's right now. He's still a high school kid so there is plenty of room to grow physically over the next few years.

I put Brett and Moore in the strong enough for college but not NFL caliber arm category. The big difference between them was Moore's ability to read defenses, Moore's accuracy, and Brett's ability to extend plays.

The kid looks good mechanically as well as his vision and IQ. I think a lot of guys get caught up in a players NFL potential rather than college potential in that they want the prototypical QB who scouts drool over but people need to remember that if a guy is smart with the football and wins games for UW that's all I care about. See Kellen Moore, Colt McCoy etc. Sure I love seeing UW kids do well in the NFL but it doesn't do us any good if they are ok in college but blow it up in the NFL. I'd rather have them winning games at UW first and foremost.

Wyoming commit Tyler Vander Waal impressed by Cowboys' quarterback development (trib.com)

Vander Waal took his official visit to Wyoming for the Mountain West Football Championship Game in Laramie.

"Man, I’ve never seen a college game rocking like that," he said. "Thirty thousand people and an electric atmosphere like that. I mean, even though Wyoming lost, just being in those stands, it was something crazy to see how loud and how crazy those fans were."

"After jumping on board, you really see how talented this class is," he said. "I know Coach Vigen was telling me that they got six of the best O-line commits that they’ve ever had, so to have that in front of me, protecting me, that’s really exciting.

"And knowing that all these guys jumping on board, they want to get on board with a winning team, so it’s exciting to get guys with the same sort of mindset surrounding you."
