Just received word that Wyoming had a chance to play Mizzou in the Independence Bowl but DC did not want to play MIzzou. Got it from a good source and it sucks as that is the game I wanted to see. :tickedoff:

I was also told part of the decision was both teams have basically the same signals... would have made it hard to play each other.

They can have more than one invite and pick not to play in one.

The AD would obviously run any situations in front of the head coach of the team....especially with a former employer as the opponent.

I'll go ahead and call BS on this. That bowl was slotted ACC vs. MWC. Mizzou replaced the MWC tie-in. So the ACC team is in the bowl, yet somehow WYO declined to play Missouri?

AFA is playing Military Bowl, so I think the MW gave up a bowl spot there too. Playing in the Independence Bowl would have been a disaster for Wyoming.. UW would have eaten a shit load of tickets and we'd have lost a lot of money on the game.

I know the tie-ins also but I got the info from the inside, maybe they did not want a 7th seeded ACC team or they were going for the marketing of a Pinkel/Christensen match-up. Why is Mizzou there anyway can be asked on both sides as MWC had a qualified tie-in? Seems funny to me that Mizzou is there and NC are there but the MWC tie-in was axed. There has to be a reason... something with this game smells fishy to me all the way around.

I agree it would have been a disaster but the match-up would have been great for Independence Bowl promoters. I wonder if they were trying to get out of inviting a bottom feeding ACC team.

It looks to me that Wyoming and San Diego State both turned down Independence Bowl invites. SDSU is playing the Ragin' Cajuns in the New Orleans Bowl.

It seems to me that both schools told the Indy bowl reps that their fans wouldn't travel to the game, so they wouldn't play a game the fans couldn't go to. Good move if you ask me. I'd rather my school be playing for the fans, not the money. :twocents:

Aren't we scheduled to play them in the near future? We may need to start working on new signals if they really are the same.

We were supposed to play them next year but it was moved back to like 2015 when DC was hired.
