Wyoming Athletics - Crapping the Bed at the Wrong Time

We already pointed out that Wyoming is easily top 5 or maybe 7 in K-12 spending. Even with some cuts, Wyoming would easily rank in the top 10.

Wyoming is second only to Alaska in per capita spending. Wyoming government spends over $13K per person.

edit: deleted Medicaid stuff. Read more about it. Budget impact is debatable.

But yeah, the original topic is correct. If success doesn't happen and if energy stays in the tank, then I expect the State dollars into athletics to shrink. Unfortunately, WYO relies on State dollars more than any other athletic program in the nation.

Not totally related, but I believe the Wyo Lottery has paid off its initial loan and will start making contributions to K-12. These contributions are pretty small compared to the planned cuts, but it's nice to still see new revenue streams during these times.

And darn it, I was hoping one of us would win the Powerball. No need for state funding then

They have paid off the loan but local municipalities get money first before k-12 gets a cut

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that someone mentioned that this proposed budget STILL has them putting millions of dollars into the rainy day fund.

That seems odd... unless of course there are people who make money off of said rainy day fund and therefore make sure it keeps getting money added to it no matter what.

Sadly, I don't think any success at this point will stop or slow the gap between the P5 and G5. This is the train we're on. Accept it.

Fair enough and sadly all too true. I just want to be competitive in the MWC.

That's all I want as well, to get to the point of playing the MWC Championship game at The War. After that...everything else is gravy.

That seems so far away still though.

Historically, competing for a MWC title was inseparable from competing with the big boys. In other words, you couldn't win a MWC crown without being at least T10 worthy (or so).

Unfortunately (maybe fortunately) that is not the case any longer and we'll see if it ever returns.
