Wyoming at Oregon gameday thread

Have to give credit to the Oregon secondary for at least half of those sacks. Cpt. Kirk had at least a 6-7 count in the pocket before it collapsed on him. Hopefully he will realize that he needs to check down sooner or throw it away. He had pretty damn good protection for the most part....

I think he had great protection I'm really proud that our OL gave him that much time. After the AFA game I was worried that it would be a sack fest but it really wasn't.

6 sacks. Still, for the most part, the o-line has improved immensely. But when they get beat, they get beat badly (a couple of those sacks happened when Colby got the ball looked downfield for an open guy, and got taken down almost immediately. While Colby is proving that he can take some hits, I'm hoping that in the coming years we use a dual threat QB, because it opens up that many more possibilities and makes it that much harder for a defense to sack him.

No denying Oregon put it on our Cowboys today, but they also put it on Sparty. If we get the convincing win I think we get next week, I am looking forward to smashing up against MSU. We will have a better shot at pulling out the win with our style of play against the Spartans than we did against the Ducks...

Well, MSU runs a similar offense and defense to what we run, so there is that. At least they don't have a QB that has 4.3 speed and can throw, and they don't do much in the read option.

Oregon is 13th overall 349 PYPG, MSU is 15th @ 348, Seems odd they are throwing it so much they are only 74th @ 167.0 RYPG. Wyoming is 99th @ 130 RYPG. I'm concerned that MSU can sling the ball around better than we realize.

I thought MSU's strength was their run game? I think that's why they eventually got blown out by Oregon. Not enough balance, too many 3 and outs, and Oregon just kept grinding down their defense.

While we wouldn't have won it, it would have been great to see how this game would have played out without the turnovers.

One interception was:
3 plays, 25 yards, 1:41 to put Oregon up 20 to 7

Another
7 plays, 85 yards, 1:35 to put Oregon up 27 to 7 (impressive drive regardless)

Fumble
4 plays, 29 yards, 1:38 to put Oregon up 41 to 7

Two of those were some big momentum shifts!

I like to think the game could have ended 28-48, If we had gotten to as many as 35 I think the starters would have stayed in long and it might have been 35-60+ but yes I think the TO's hurt the defense more than the offense. Seemed like the defense was really in it during the first Q but after the turn over air was completely let out of the sails.
