WYO Lotto Time!!

Now that our regular season at large bid hopes seem close to dashed (barring a miraculous win out finish to this season or maybe just MAYBE 1 more loss from here on out) it seems we must prepare for the Wyoming Lottery. It's quite simple. Go to the MWC tourney and punch your winning lotto ticket into the NCAA by smashing whatever challenger comes our way. I'm going as far as to say we must now put all our eggs in this basket for our backdoor entrance into the tourney. So how do we prepare?

I really think we should sit Nance and Herndon until at least March. Granted I don't know the details to this situation at all but I'm just guessing a month off might be our only chance for these guys to go with mono. A month off generally hurts a player quite a bit as they will have fallen out of game shape and might lose a little edge. This means that is absolutely CRITICAL for our current Pokes lineup to gel and bring as much to the table as possible. We need growth NOW from a lot of guys and leadership from unsung places. It sucks but our freshmen need to make a name for themselves starting today. Calling all Cowboys!!! ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!! Don't give up and fight for what's left cause it ain't over yet just yet...............

What the odds we can win this Lottery?
Without Nance/Herndon 150-1
With Herndon no Nance 133-1
With sick Nance no Herndon 40-1
With sick Nance and sick Herndon 30-1
With healthy full lineup 12-1 and I'd put 100 bucks down on this for sure if offered in Vegas.

Hey I'm no vegas odds maker but I'm just having little Sunday morning fun.

Cooke appears to be offensively lost without Nance. Yes, he can rebound, but that seems to be it. How about an all guard lineup (and MacMan) with Adams the "designated" rebounder. With that lineup, move the ball around more quickly and drive more. Are you listening Shyatt? No charge. You're welcome.

Dude are you still trying to give Shyatt free advice? Well you get what you pay for.

How about we try a second big man in at the same time as Cooke? It couldn't hurt, and it would have our O running as it has been, we wouldn't need to make vast changes like it kind of looked like against AFA with McM in for Nance.

We also keep saying Cooke isn't effective on O, but he shot 1-2!!! Give him the damn ball down low and let him have a chance.

The problem with Cooke is that ALL he has is the dunk. No fade-away. No hook. No 10 ft. jumper. And if the defence prevents him getting it down low, right under the basket, forget it.

Even if he gets the ball at the rim, if there's a defender near he's useless. I've never seen someone be so nasty around the rim unguarded and then so helpless around the rim when guarded. He has to be uncontested or he will fail.

Cooke needs a Nance to be effective, Nance has movement and Cooke just stands around down low. Move out throw a pick and right back to the basket. You get him the ball down low and he has nothing to attack the basket.

However Hankerson is off the slump he dropped 2 threes and that is a good sign going forward.

Until there is some news from the coaches I expect us to be w/o Nance for a few games and we have very little chance to beat anyone on the schedule. Hell w/o Nance even SJSU could cause of fits our defense is garbage and unless Adams puts up 30 points a game we're in trouble.

I agree. AF was down two starters and beat the holy living shit out of us. Without Nance, I don't see this team winning too many games in the future. AF exposed what we all knew, we have no depth on the bench. Our starters are gassed from playing 35 to 40 minutes a game, every game. Same old tune, just a different year. Start out looking like world beaters, and fade down the stretch. I hope the Pokes prove me wrong and make me eat a shit load of crow, but I just don't see us beating anyone without Nance in the line up.

We miss Sobey or a Sobey-like player. A big wing that can guard well and shoot from the outside and dribble drive and create and actually finish at the rim.

This thread needs to live on cause we are officially in WYO lotto time. We have to backdoor our way into the tourney by punching in that magical MWC tourney lotto ticket. THIS IS ALL THAT MATTERS NOW! Fuck all the rest. Wait speaking of rest. Do we rest Herndon and Nance a little more until the MWC tourney? Or do we try to gel once more before we get in there? How do we go about approaching the only thing that matters? What a tough luck fucking season AGAIN for Cowboys fans. Just don't go and kill yourselves people. You'll have plenty more seasons to suffer some sort of lighting strike depression thing again as the WYO curse is real.

As long as we don't fall into the pig-tail games, I don't see any disadvantage to gearing up for a big tourney run right now in terms of rest and playing time. Regardless of where we finish up the regular season, our road to the NCAA tourney goes through some combination of SDSU, BSU, and CSU. Doesn't matter which round we play them in; we have to kill 'em all!

the WYO curse is real

Wyo curse = Burman = years of a (sub) par athletic department

I read we are now sitting at 5th in the league, which is top half, which has been stated to be where we aim.

Not saying Burman is directly at fault for the loss last night, or at Air Force, or at Utah State, but the pre-planned groundwork is proving out yet again. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Don't know much about Burman and surely not enough to hate too much. He did get us Heath right? Well yeah that's not good but I even thought Heath could've done something until the final POISONOUS season. What is true though. Burman played no part in Muojeke's knee being blown out, in Luke kicking a guy in the face at the Buck, in Nance's knee being blown out, and of course having our star player + another key player get mono. No that my friend that is a fucking Wyoming curse from the most hellacious zone conjured up. I don't know what the people of Wyo did to deserve this, they always seem pretty kind generally despite not always being my preferred cup o tea so to speak.

I am gonna tune out for awhile and just kinda check box scores until the MWC tourney. I'm pretty busy in life right now with a lot on my mind. I do think its gonna be must see tv though for us in the tourney. We have the type of team that can lose first game or win the whole damn thing. One last ride awaits us all. Here's to hoping its a good one boys
