don't we often see some of the larger schools buy out the home games though?
Depends on where the first game in played.....Ole Miss, Texas, and Nebraska all had to come to Laramie for the first game of the series. Virginia didn't buy the game out. Same with ATM. Tennessee is the only program to buy out the return visit to Laramie and the got beat because of it. :D

Didn't Tennesee buy out the first part of the series and played in Nashville. Syracuse also bought out a return game in laramie. I think most of these games the first game is away so I wouldn't be suprised if one or more of them gets bought out or postponed way into the future. I bet the only reason we got Texas and Nebraska to come to Laramie first is because we agreed to 2 for 1. Somehow, I don't see Oregon coming to Laramie anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong.

Wyo AD at the time, thinking moon, sold the Tennessee home game to Nashville as they wanted to host it there. I remember a $1 million dollar deal with Nashville. Univ of Tennessee did not buy it out

This is correct. It was Moon who sold the home game vs. Tennessee to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Authority, and it was actually for $2.3 million. Lousy deal for fans, but the money serviced a lot of debt and assured the FB program didn't average under 15K in attendance, which was a big concern at the time.
