"You play and figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are and do some things to help your players in areas you struggle in," Christensen said. "We had to come up with some things to give our guys a chance."

I like it, but shouldn't that shit have been figured out in the spring, or maybe even fall camp?

DC and his coaching staff only knew how effective the schemes were against his own team. The only way to really know how effective the schemes are, are after you have played a few games.

Of course there will also be a fool or two that will complain because the Cowboys aren't more creative with the play calling. Here's a hint, don't expect the Cowboys to stretch the field much against TCU. Kevin McKinney said during an interview this week that the plan is to "shorten the game," meaning ball possession will be a priority. Expect the Cowboys to run the ball and throw a lot of dink and dunk, long hand-off type passes to keep the clock running. I think there will probably be a trick/gadget play or two, but don't expect a lot of long bomb high risk play calling. All that type of irresponsible play calling will do is give TCU more possessions and more points on the board. Wyoming will have to keep the TCU offense off the field if they are going to have any chance of keeping the game even halfway close.

The more DC and Arroyo coach the more I am impressed with them. Who cares about where we rank statistically...the point is giving the team the BEST chance to win. If we tried to stretch the field vs Air Force we would have been rolled. Plain and Simple! That is because we would have controlled the clock even less, wearing out our defense even more and giving them more time to run their offense (which we don't have the personnel/depth to stop).

To even consider beating/keeping it close against TCU we have to keep Dalton off the field as much as possible. If we try to stretch the field, we will be prone to much shorter (time wise) and possible 3 and out drives. I think we will see a lot of first down screen/dump it off plays. If we can get it to 2nd and 5/6 and 3rd and 2, then we keep the defense on their heels as we can absolutely run the ball in those situations.

A lot of people forget that statistically the offense was pretty decent in Vic's tenure...but the Ws/Ls was flat out ugly. If we have 8 solid DL, then I would say sure lets air it out because we can count on the defense...but the fact is, its pretty bleak after our number 1s. Fortunately, one thing we do have is a heckuva punt game.

I agree that keeping the offense of tcu off the field is our best option. It also seems that DC is going to actually try and compete/win this game (Boise St we layed down). If we can get ahead and force TCU to throw then our d might do ok but if TCU gets in a situation were they can run than we can't win/compete. Andy Dalton is a decent passer but he is not havin the year he had last year and seems to be less accurate.

I might be crazy and I am most certainly wrong, but I think Wyoming pulls off the huge upset.

That's a pretty big win in my book in and of itself
