Won't win many games (or any left this year) when...

The opponent shoots 26 of 47 (55.3%) from the field, and 15 of 22 (68.2%) from 3. Ahh...the luck of a Cowboy fan is just spectacular at times. That and when the leading scorer on our team (and in the MWC) manages only 4 points the first 30 minutes of game time. Oh, and when the MWC leading team shoots a pathetic 5 of 12 (41.7%) from the charity stripe. Ugh.

Yeah there were a lot of things that added up to this game being hard to win. Amazing shooting from Fresno(and it wasn't really bad defense, they made some tough 3's) who isn't a good shooting team. Our leading scorer having an off night shooting(was getting decent boards and assists), some tough calls(not complaining about reffing, just some toss up calls down the stretch that didn't go our way), poor free throw shooting.
And one that I haven't seen mentioned but zero energy in the arena. Until we made our push the final couple minutes the crowd was pathetic. Both in the term of numbers and energy. No student section. What was going on? They had been good all year. The bottom level wasn't even close to being full. I know you could say the crowd didn't have much to cheer about most the game but it seemed to be Shroyer era level of no energy in the building.

This is a no-brainer. The crowd isn't going to come back until they stop losing to terrible teams at home. It's pretty simple. If they want good crowds they have to string together wins.

Bingo. Wyoming fans are very forgiving and want to be in those seats. Give them a reason and they will show up in droves. You can't talk about shitty fanfare then turn around and lose to the teams we've lost to this season

Well this was the first game it felt that way to me. We have lost to horrible teams at home all year. And the students have been good all year except for break. After the last home game that had one of the better crowd experiences this year(CSU) to this being the worst was suprising. I know wed vs Saturday. But it is strange that the Boise game seemed to be the breaking point.

Winning the first ever conference championship isn't a good enough reason? We haven't been 75% capacity for a single game only 1 season after winning our first ever conference tournament. Sure, poor results this year may discourage fans from attending. But it's pretty obvious that the grave Shroyer/Burman dug is too deep for 1 season of success to change things.

Could be. the wind was howling but other than that the weather was beautiful 60 during the day was still in the mid 40's by the time I got home at 10. I wasn't judging or blaming anyone. It just seemed strange and the dead atmosphere could have played a small part in the lack of intensity. It seemed weird that the Boise game was the one where people went" Nope not going to anymore games". We have dropped plenty on inexcusable games this year and thought Boise was one of the more excusable ones. So I was just curious what people thought about reasonings. Especially for the students. Other activities on campus last night, its not mid terms is it?

Part of the issue with students may have been that the first waves of tests are coming this week. I've talked to a decent number of kids that have tests today or tonight. That said, I was there +3

this new configuration of the arena has truly taken the life outta this building, not allowing those that want to sit in the student section to be a little more "vulgar" and such and actually want to sit in their seats and cheer for their team and have fun at a game. at least the old way you could have some fun, anymore get a ticket in the lower bowl and it's like a library anymore and when you do cheer people stare at you like you have a disease. Also to have games on TV and seeing all those empty yellow seats really doesn't do us justice as well. if there was a way for those season ticket holders to give those tickets to the University and give them to those that want to be there or an upgrade from high to low. I don't know but it's a quiet sad place anymore compared to how it used to be!!! don't get me started on the ticket "nazi" checkers...lol

This. Every game. Some old fart will just stare at me every time I boo a bad call or stand up and cheer. It's disturbing.

It's just unfortunate the university doesn't do much to make it attractive to come to games. If you are a preferred donor with your stadium parking then sure it's a nice experience, but nowadays if I am faced with even the remotest chance of bad roads I am going to stay home in Cheyenne and watch on TV. The last thing I want to do after driving over the summit is have to park near Ivinson hospital and walk past hundreds of unused parking spots in bad weather and be treated like I don't belong by the Landmark staff. The ticket Nazis have let up somewhat this year which was nice (or maybe because I'm in a different section). Surely the university has a pretty good idea of estimated attendance. I see no reason why they can't do something to make attending games easier and more attractive when it's the middle of the week or lesser opponents, open the parking, give out free popcorn and pepsis, I mean do something creatively to make the gameday experience worth coming for. People need more in the 21st century, especially when the team is struggling. Yes we won the tournament last year, but why is that going to motivate people to come this year to watch a 5-9 team? We aren't getting to watch Larry Nance anymore.

That said, anyone hear the old fart yell at Carter to "Eat A Salad" last Wednesday? The AA was largely silent when it happened - I about died laughing. Carter reportedly turned around and said "I Will" but never scored another point, nor got another rebound from then on! Was hilarious.
