Winning and attendance

I did a very quick scan of USU's attendance. Prior to 2012, they were somewhere between 15K and 17K average (again rough numbers).

In 2012, average attendance increased to 20K, and it appears they are somewhere around 22K this year. That is in increase of 5K tickets per game (assuming the 17K previously). Even at $43/ticket, that would be roughly 1.3 mill in additional revenue (assuming only 6 home games). That is just ticket sales.

I think a winning POKE team could draw really well. If we jumped average attendance by 8K with marketing and wins and averaged $50/ticket, that would increase revenue by 2.4 mill. Add in the TV bonuses, CCG money, etc. and it seems like a no brainer. Has our athletic department created some sort of pitch on the economic benefits of success? I would be curious to see their projections.

If Wyoming fielded a successful team for two to three seasons we could easily sell out the War every game. People will come to watch a great team no matter the elements.

We've got to get the busses going again too. We start fielding a winning team again we could truck a ton of people in from all over the state. I know a boatload of folks in Casper that would attend more often if they didn't have to drive themselves due to weather, gas, etc.

Hell, there are plenty of people in Cheyenne that would pay for a bus ride. Make it a party bus and they'd have to take reservations!

That's what I'm saying. I know a ton of casual fans that want to just come to pregame/party. They don't come because they can drink at home cheap and watch the game free without having to drive to Laramie, buy a ticket, and drive home. Get these guys a ride and sales @ Tailgate Park, the War (tickets and concessions), the B&G, local bars, etc. will increase more than a little.

We do that, improve the game day experience with better multimedia, and start winning... Attendance and cashflow increase dramatically.
