Win and they will come

I talked about this in another thread. I'm disappointed by only 19000 being there and I don't blame the people who have to invest large quantities of money on hotels, gas, food, Etc.

I do blame the population centers of Cheyenne, Casper and Laramie who would not have to invest in all those costs.

We have enough cowboys fans from these places to get a better showing then 19000.

I hope we have decent roads and temperate weather if we host championship game as we need a great showing to send these kids off right.

Stop televising home games. Attendance will rise.

It sure felt louder and looked fuller than 19k yesterday. Then again I didn't get a great look at the west stands. The east stands were full and it was awesome to see a fired up, engaged student section.
I agree though, the unlv game last weekend combined with the game being on tv definitely killed interest in people having to travel more than 2 hours to go to the game.

I agree. I've been to every home game this year and yesterday was the loudest it's been all season. There was a moment toward the end of the game where the damn stadium was shaking like I've never experienced. I was quite surprised when the announced attendance was under 20k
I echo this. There were more there than that. We must be the only school in the country that does not inflate attendance. I say that with stone-cold seriousness.

All you that are disappointed - were you there? If not then you really don't have any room to talk.

All things considered it was a decent crowd. When was the last time we've had that many actual butts in the seats in November?

There was a damn blizzard and closed roads the day before - huge impact.
Two decades of suck - huge impact.
Crapping the bed @ UNLV - huge impact
People not really believing because they didn't know we're actually for real - huge impact.

All things considered it wasn't that bad. Could it have been better? Yes. But we'll get there if we keep winning.

The crowd freaking brought it, btw. Best crowd I've heard in my lifetime.

Our average attendance went up by about 3000 people a game from last season. That has to do directly with winning. It's going to keep growing as long as we keep winning.

The Oregon game next season will be a sell-out. If we can string another successful season together next year, we might grow the attendance average by another 2000-3000 Wyoming fans.

The positive news: our attendance is growing at a rate that's faster than any year in the last 40 seasons or so.

Just a reminder on this. Sounds somewhat promising so far!

...a home championship game would likely put us in the top-three of total season attendance in WMS history.

Attendance goals
For third-most: 12,626 (currently 1987)
For second-most: 17,658 (currently 1988)
For the record: 24,767 (currently 1990)

Attendance was great this year. As far as actual butts in the seats I've never seen better and it hasn't been close, really (granted I wasn't around for the late 80s early 90s). Crowds have been electric, too. Really fun season!

our problems, although I totally understand, living in Wyoming most of my life, TV kills attendance here, late kick offs around 815pm no one wants to drive home with wildlife on the roads etc..., December temperatures on a Dec. 3 game at 5:45pm game, I get it, I don't like it but I get it, black this game out in Laramie and Cheyenne and force those on the fence to come see it. I agree this was the best year for attendance in a lot of years, the atmosphere's were electric it's fun. I want UW to offer Bohl the keys to the house and farm give him what he wants, pay his assistants fair market value, cuz I'm tired of rebulilding every 5-7 years here, let's build something special then asking for sell outs won't be a formality they'll truly be a reality!!!! Something special could be brewing in the Gem City, I'm ready for it are you???
GO POKES, and others out there, if you can, please, please, please try to get to Laramie to help us Pack the WAR!!!!!!! Afterall MWC Championships don't run thru Laramie all that often(yet)
