Wide Receivers vs DB's

Practice #3......I am kinda biased about the kid at the 36 sec mark! Ha Ha. I hope this works. This was a one on one drill in practice with W/O and DBs.

Nice mention of Tanner Simpson the Red Shirt Freshman from Lander, Wyoming in this article under "Practice highlights".

Excited to see what this WR corps can do this year. Should be the best in a decade!
They are good, but not sure about that.....not one returning receiver had over 700 receiving yards last season, and all are on the small side. Good? Yes....but that 05' team with Bouknight and Ford were better than these guys.

Are you always like this? The Pokes return 9 receivers who caught passes...not including running backs. Five of the returning guys had over 250 yards. Herron was close to your 700 yard benchmark. He also averaged over 20 ypc. And let's not forget that the starting QB missed parts of 4 games. The receiving corp could be up to 12 deep.

If you're looking for size, there are 7 or 8 receivers over 6'2". And about that many over 200lbs.

The potential is there....we'll see how it pans out. The best part is only two seniors and only one starts.

Bouknight was the only productive receiver on that team. Every other play was a bubble screen in which Jovon used his skills to create space and yards. After Jovon left our WRs were pretty poor in the grand scheme of things. Jovon is one of the all-time greats.

Ford was probably the 4th most productive receiver in that unit behind Jason Wallace and Tyler Holden.

It helps we have a QB now but Herron, Rufran,Clairborne, and the redshirts have the potential to have quite the season!

In Herron's JR year he had 657 yds and 8 TD. Ford had 674 yds and 4 TD as a JR.

Herron missed about 3-4 games too. 2013 should be big for him!

It is too early to say but I think this group of young men have the potential to be pretty damn good. The question mark so far is the offensive line. If we the Pokes can't protect Brett or Jason it doesn't matter how good they are.

Yep....3 of the 5 starters are gone from 2012......we will have to wait and see if they were key veterans, or part of the problem. Losing Carlson sucks, but the O-Line was really bad at times last season. Hard to weep over losing anyone from last years group.

LOL, DC said that in the three days of practice they have had 5 different people take snaps at center! I would say that there is a little uncertainty at the OL anchor spot.

Not much question at center the JC guy will be the starter in the fall, he just hasn't arrived yet. Currently they are trying to find a back up for that position so don't be too worried about the center spot.

Hawaii fans everywhere do not understand why they just kicked their dog.

JC players are never a sure thing.

Definitely a little worried about the center position. Hope the JC kid can come through this fall though. Watched the video jarhead, looked like a push off by the receiver though.

Any one on one drill with WR and DB's put the defensive person at a huge dis-advantage. Trust me I have coached both defenders and receivers at the high school level long enough I know that rarely do you find a person who can defend effectively in a one on one situation like that. When you do find someone who can you have a stud! If you ask a defender they will tell you that the offense is always pushing off, and the offense will say that the defenders are always holding them! Ha Ha.

Completely agree. Always wished I had a stud DB. They are few and far between.
