The only thing that pisses me off about that article is that our administration is glad TCU is gone so we don't have to compete with them financially. It's such an ass backwards way to look at things. Rather than try and compete we would rather stay small time. TCU is a much smaller college than UW. Small time thinking = small time results.

Where is Mcpeachy when you need him? btw where has he run off to?

TCU is a much smaller college, but also a very well-to-do private college.. reality is we just can't keep up with the budgets of some teams.

McPeach is on summer vacation.. time for him to decompress before he comes back to the board and raises his blood pressure. :)

I tend to agree they are Mid Major in size but their financial backing being a private school is millions above where anyone else that is currently in the MWC will ever be. TBH Utah was the same way and to a point BYU as well while I love to play those teams reality is our budget will never allow for that type of spending so why not be happy playing teams that you are financially equal to?

You didn't think TCU won all those games just because who they were? They won them because they bought those wins with financial backing.

Utah is not a private school. We are one of the wealthiest states in the union with the only college team in the state. We need an AD & president that will be able to tap into that money. I'm tired of hearing excuses.

North Dakota is currently the wealthiest state in the country, or one of the top, and only have two D1 schools but neither one are even close to having the budget to be an FBS school.. sometimes a state's wealth doesn't equate to university wealth.. as much as we'd like to correlate the two.

What I'm saying is....IT COULD. With a the right administration and AD in place it could happen. Lets start voting in state officials who see UW as a real investment.

No one said Utah was a private school we said Utah is a wealthy with pretty substantial financial backing. All I can really say is I don't think you understand how the financial side is and how it works I'm certainly no expert but I understand more from researching and reading articles. Wyoming state wealth has very little to do with Wyoming College wealth.

You get us boosters like those big schools have and we will have better recruiting. They aren't excuses they are plain and simple facts Wyoming doesn't have that same financial backing.

The only way Wyoming will ever be able to compete with the big boys is when College Recruiting gets a spending cap and it's below 300K a year. Some schools spend upwards for 800K a year on recruiting a lot of that revenue is from 3rd party donations as well.

Football Recruiting Budgets
School 2011 2010
Air Force 335,986 335,986
Boise State 129,837 71,290
Colorado St. 251,383 239,468
Fresno State 99,629 94,101
Hawaii 132,068 125,268
Nevada 80,317 80,714
New Mexico 250,582 247,456
SDSU 141,216 196,967
UNLV 292,618 286,086
Wyoming 225,338 198,017

Personally I think if anything it's about location and Wyoming in general. Even with amazing practice facilities and financial backing for recruiting I don't think 85% of the 3 star recruits want to play in Wyoming. But these are a lot of what if's and buts because if we were in a AQ conference maybe that would be a different story but we aren't.

Winning makes all the difference in the world. If Wyoming wins the conference, watch what happens with recruiting, financial backing, and donors.
