What's your favorite Wyo game of all time?

I got posed with an interesting question the other day that I hadn't thought too much about before. What has been your favorite Pokes game? I'm sure it's been talked about here before, but i'm just curious. I have some pretty good memories of some games back in the day. I was interested in hearing what your guys' have been. My personal favorite was the 2003 Border War. It was such a great game! I wish I could find highlights to post. The Kansas game that year was a pretty good one too, If we had completed the comeback it would be up there as well. I also liked the two most recent bowl victories. The 2 OT thriller was a classic. I just wish I had seen it live.

1988 ESPN Thursday Night game against the basterds from Provostan (?).

The final score was misleading...we shoulda won 45-3 or something.

We destroyed BYU that night!

1996 border war. Josh Walwork takes the team the length of the field in the last 2 minutes for a 25-24 win. Sonny's teams were tough then. Marcus Harris caught about 15 balls in that game.

The byu wins in 1987 and 1988 are 2nd and 3d.

Hmmm

5th - 07 vs TCU
4th - Las Vegas Bowl
3rd - New Mexico bowl
2nd - 17 - 16 win @ CSU

AND NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

44 - NUTIN

Two rank at the top, neither of which were played in Laramie-

The 1988 game at AFA. Simply one of the greatest football games ever played in NCAA football.

The Las Vegas Bowl win against UCLA. The UCLA fans almost made me wish for BYU fans in the four hours I got to meet them. The utterly embarrassed dejection they displayed after losing was priceless.

No. 1 - 2010 Border War -- Pokes 44:Sheep0 -- Most recent win over the sheep will always be my favorite game.
No. 2 - 1988 UW at AFA -- 48:45 Pokes - 24 4th quarter points to beat the falcons.
No. 3 - 1990 SDSU at UW -- 52:51 Pokes -- Wild wild game! -- Paul Roach was a God!
No. 4 - 1987 UW in Provostan -- Pokes 29, Momma's boys 27 -- LaVelle Edwards calls the third quarter the worst quarter of football he's ever coached.
No. 5 -- 2006 Utards at Wyoming - 31:15 Pokes -- Pokes had a 24-0 halftime lead in a game that wasn't as even as this score indicates.

Favorite Games I saw TV:
Las Vegas Bowl
NM Bowl
@SDSU in 09 just to name a few

Favorite games I witnessed in person:
Border War 24-0 win I believe
07 TCU game was awesome to be at

Man I forgot to post that one! That definitely goes in my top 5 as well. I always loving beating up a Utah team! Especially after the infamous onside kick. I was at the game down in SLC when Glenn gave Whattafag the bird. That easily put them on BYU's level for me.

Can't argue with any of those. Would throw in 1990 @ Utah. The kicker/punter gets hurt and we end up going for it on 4th down and making it more often than not. Pokes win 28-10.

Also 1999 BYU @ UW. Beautiful November night game, and we knock off a (12th?) ranked BYU 31-17.

My grandmother in northern WY recorded that game for me and I STILL have it. Haven't watched it since 1999.

Sadly I don't have the stuff to burn a VHS tape onto a DVD.

Agreed on both accounts. Great game and I would buy a copy if you could burn it.

One of the best games ever. I still have my ticket stub from that game.

The New Mexico Bowl was a great game as well. What made it fun is that UW wasn't supposed to go to a bowl game. The entire 4th quarter + OT was great. The 4th down conversions were awesome. However, the best thing of the night was the defense. Unrein's fumble started it and the 4 stuffs inside the 1. I bet the odds of ANY team stuffing Ryan Matthews that many times from 30 inches away from the goal line is 1 in 1000.

Wasn't quite a night game. That's the game the goal post currently hanging in the Buck' came from. BYU was #13. Still have my ticket stub and the following day's Boomerang. Hangover's finally gone though...

Hey all,

Longtime Poke fan and Wyoming alum here that finally got around to creating a profile and entering the fray. Having lived in Utah for the past 3.75 years (and have worked in Provostan for the past 5 months) and listened to the local sports talk and fans I'd have to say:

4: New Mexico Bowl
3: Las Vegas Bowl
2: All Poke wins over Utah
1: All Poke wins over (yep You guessed it) BWhineU

What I would give for the Pokes to be back on the level of "no one is safe playing in the War". It seems like nowadays if a team has a number in front of their name, we tend to rollover. If Wyoming beat Boise in Boise (fat chance I know), could you imagine the attention the program would get?

I'm pretty sure it was Boise who ruined the notion that "no one is safe playing in the War" for good last season.
