What Wyo needs right now...

We need the Sheep of all teams to beat Boise in Foco on Tuesday. That way when we play @ CSU on Saturday, they don't have a chip of losing 2 games in a row on their shoulder when we come into town.
That also puts a chip on Boise's shoulder for a home match-up with UNLV on Saturday.
We really need UNLV to lose a couple games, and @ Boise is one of the realistic losses for the Rebels.

Actually, I think that would hurt us by affecting BSU's RPI. BSU beating the Sheep in FoCo would be better for their RPI, which is higher than CSEwe. Gives us a higher-quality opponent when BSU comes to town.

I wouldn't mind if CSU beat Boise simply for the sake of getting Boise off our asses in the conference standings. We have a comfortable lead over CSU for the time being. We just need to stay above that 6th place finish.

What Wyoming needs is to get a good seed in the tournament but one where they don't have to play San Diego St. or Boise St.

I am not worried about playing any other team in the conference tournament but those two. I think Wyoming will beat New Mexico the 3rd time they play and I also think Wyoming will beat UNLV if they play again. I am not scared one bit of Fresno St. or Utah St. on a neutral court either.

I think if we have to play Boise St. in the tournament it will be a war and we might not win that one and I know if we play San DIego St. again the chances of us beating them aren't very good.

I would rather play UNLV in the tournament on their neutral/home court than either of the two teams I listed above.

So if we can somehow make it so we don't have to face either of those two teams I like our chances of winning the whole thing. Chances are we will have to face atleast one of them if not both of them though.

Just my opinion of course but I like Wyoming's chances if they played lets say Fresno St. in the first round, New Mexico in the 2nd round and then UNLV in the championship game.

I don't want a scenario where we have to play Boise St. then New Mexico and then San Diego St.

Who do you guys want to face? Would love to hear your opinions on it?

I want us to get the 3, NM to get the 2, UNLV to get the 4, Nevada to get the 6, and SDSU to get the 1.
I want Nevada to beat SJSU in the 6/11 game, so we play Nevada.
Then play NM in the semi finals. Then play either SDSU or UNLV in the finals.
Assuming we win out and end up 23-9 and the 3 seed, then win the 3 games with wins over Nevada, NM, and SDSU, a record of 26-9 and MWCT champions what kind of seed do you think we will be?

A 26-9 is not going to be a top 5, I don't think, but it certainly isn't going to be a bottom 5. I think the Pokes would get a 7 seed at 26-9.

Anyone saying "win out" is a jackass. This team will beat someone we shouldn't and lose to someone. I'd be more than happy being proven wrong though. Here's to hoping I am!

;)

What a typical message board answer...play the game! Who do you want to play in the MWC Tourney? For the easiest road?

Saying what we want and predictions are not the same thing.

I don't know that any of this matters too much. Sure having Boise lose to CSU or whatever would have RPI implications and whatnot, but come on guys, we aren't making the NCAAT unless we win the conference tourney, and I'm thinking NIT is probably gonna fall out of reach too. As far as seeding for the tourney goes, I'm not sure it matters much as it is roughly the same difficulty for the 3 seed as it will be for the 4. I for one hope we don't get UNLV, I don't care how many people actually think we're better than them (I for one don't really think we are), we have NEVER done well against them on their home court in the tournament. But even if we don't play UNLV, I think we can all agree that SDSU, New Mexico, and Boise State would be very tough matchups too. However, I think many of us overlook Nevada, Fresno State, and Utah State. Sure, I feel we are better than them, but I think all of those teams are good enough to beat anyone in the conference on any given day. So unless there is a seeding situation that gives us a schedule of SJSU, then AFA, and then CSU, our final standing in the conference is only going to matter from a pride perspective.

Says the jackass. Sorry, you're the one who started the name calling.

Seriously? Fresno and UNLV are both peaking.

Going back to the statement "this team will beat someone they shouldn't"...all of the remaining teams are below us in the standings...and Wyo only has 2 road games left...

So if you mean Wyo will win either at CSU or at USU, the only 2 games Wyo could be the "underdog" that makes sense...If not, then there are no teams left on the schedule we should lose to.

Yes the Boise game is going to be hard but we are at home, ahead of them in the standings and already beat them. Wyo "should" beat them.

Speaking of typical message board crap, your over analyzation of hypothetical situations is tiresome. Best yet, you're assuming we win out!

Yeah seriously. I wouldn't say Fresno is peaking for sure. They beat us on their home floor and then beat a bunch of teams that are at the bottom of the conference. Their win at Nevada was decent. If they can come into Laramie on Tuesday and beat us then yeah I will say they are peaking but until then I don't buy it. On a neutral floor Wyoming is better than them and they don't scare me.

UNLV just got worked two games ago at CSU by 18. They had a nice win yesterday but again they don't scare me if we play them again. I don't think they can beat us two times in a row and the next time we play them it won't be a "true" home court for them as they do change the court and lots of other teams fans can get seats.

None of the games will be easy but if i have to pick to play either a Fisher coached San Diego St. team again in the championship game or a Rice coached UNLV team then I would rather take my chances with UNLV as I think Wyoming would have about a 5% chance of beating the Aztecs again and a LOT better chance of beating UNLV.

If you ask me would I rather play Fresno St. or Boise St. in the quarterfinals then I would rather play Fresno St. as Boise is a tougher match up in my opinion. Just think Wyoming would have a much better chance against Fresno than against Boise.

So...you don't like that there are threads on a Wyoming sports message board about the Wyoming basketball team?
Hmm...Go to a different website then.

I was just answering SeattleCowboys question. He asked who we want Wyo to play and said he wants to hear our opinions...so...you being all pissy and calling people jackasses for expressing their opinions is comical.
Go cry somewhere else.

I think the Cowboys match up just fine with anyone in the conference. The only team I don't want to see in the tourney is SDSU.

If we do and it's in the Championship game, I'm good with that.

The conference tourney will be a toss up this year. The only team that won't have a shot is SJSU.

+1.

I think AFA as the 10 seed wins a game.
