What was worse, Black 14 of Vic Koenig?

The Pokes were the original BCS busters in the 60s, three WAC championships and a Sugar Bowl appearance. It then took 7 years to have a winning season and share a WAC title and it was another decade before we won a title outright. After that, we were at least contending most years sharing a couple more titles. Since Vic, the best we have done is tied for third. Granted we have gone to (and won) two bowls, but getting to a bowl isn't quite the accomplishment it was back then.

I didn't start following Cowboy football until '87 when I was a freshman at UW, so I don't know what it was like during the glory years of the 60s, or the down years of the 70s, and early 80s, but I know what it was like during the '87 - '99 period. Since 2000 it's been downright depressing. Worse, it seems our reputation instantly went from yearly contenders to perennial doormats. So which was worse? Did our reputation suffer as much? It seems like it's taking us longer to recover, but then again the MWC of 2004 - 2010 is a lot stronger than the WAC of the 70s, 80s and 90s.

I would say the Black 14 incident, because of that had never happened, Wyoming would never had fallen like it did, and BYU probably would not have become the power that it did in football. Had the Black 14 incident not happened, then even with a Koenning coach, we would have rebounded shorty after, because there would have been no drop off.

The biggest downturn in UW football history came about because UW wouldn't allow the black team members to express a protest on the field against the bywhoer's racist policies. I can't wait till we are rid of those worthless bastards. :x

Ya, I see what you mean; now how many times will the pokes draw more than 12000 for a football or a basketball game. You'll miss us a lot more than we're going to miss Laramie

If you are going to flame & troll, at least make part of doing so, seem somewhat realistic! That way it becomes at least a tad bit believable.

Sorry, I realize I exaggerated a bit; what was I thinking saying 12,000; 8,000 would be more in line. I'll watch that come basketball season when you say how much you won't miss BYU since no other school, except maybe CSU, puts more butts in the seats of War Memorial or the Arena Auditorium (catchy name that...who came up with it?). I'm sure when you play Montana Polytechnic you'll be glad you don't have to worry about finding a parking spot; or having your athletic department funded. :thumb:

As far as Football goes, we have drawn in the 20,000s for many years now. BYU hasn't been our biggest draw for a while now. If fact it seems to me that BYU was one of the lowest draws last year. Don't think we've sold out the BYU game since 1990. We sold out for Boise this year, Texas last year, and Virginia in 2007. I imagine Nebraska will sell out next year. Nope, not gonna miss BYU at all.

Yes, I guess BYU wouldn't be your biggest draw. Why would fans show up to a game where you haven't beaten the team in years. I understand.

This isn't even good flaming, and we can all see you are trying your best. You should throw in the towel before you make an even bigger ass out of yourself.

I used to like the "friendly" hatred with BYU and it stinks Wyoming couldn't put up a fight in the last few seasons.

However, when somebody who's been buddying up to you turns around and stabs you in the back and you somehow survive, you don't open your arms wide open for them.

I believe treason is one of few crimes remaining where you may end up executed, and this was treachery against the MWC. I seriously hope that BYU falls apart completely due to what they did, and that all MWC teams refuse to schedule them in the future. I would've been okay with BYU going independent - it sucks to lose them, but whatever. It's the going behind everybody's back and trying to kill the MWC that I'm not okay with, and I want BYU Athletics to rot in Hell for it. What good is an "honor code" when the people at the top have neither honor nor morals?

Don't be an asshole Dudhound, you used to actually contribute something of worth to the boards. Don't act like a typical BYU piece of shit.
