I thought FCS was the answer until i really heard and thought about it long and hard. if we do go down, we won't get the same type of budget, able to hire quality coaches and not being able to recruit good players as well....sure the competition may be the same but if we go that route I think it would be a mistake, and the true quality of the product would go way down as well...plus the pride factor would go down with it as well.....stay for as long as utterly possible...GO POKES

And this would be different from what we have now in what way?

Maybe it wouldn't be. How is going to FCS going to make anything better?

We have a better chance to be competitive. We lost to an FCS school this year, so that should clue some people in on our level of football right now. Going 2-10 every year just so we can thump our chests and say "well, at least we're D-1" seems pointless, to me. Wyoming only has a D-1 football team in name. Not in player talent or coaching.
ou know why we lost this game right? and give me a legit answer, not a "yeah because we suck" answer like you usually do.

OK, I'll say what you want me to say. "Because we didn't have Brett Smith." I bet if Boise St. played with their backup quarterback, they would still beat Cal-Poly. So would Fresno St. So would 96% of the rest of FBS schools....at least somewhat good FBS schools. You're telling me a "good" program and a "good" coach is completely reliant on one player to win? And I am a Poke fan, have been for years. I was in college in 96 when Marcus Harris and the boys gave us our last great team. But I'm not a sycophant. I call it like I see it. I'm not going to come on here and say how great we are when we are 1-7. Someone has to keep it real. I have watched this team flounder at the FCS level for the past 15+ years. I don't see why it's going to change any time soon. Especially not with this regime.

I seem to recall a few other teams losing to FCS schools in the last few (say 5) years, including, but not limited to, Michigan, Army, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Navy, Oregon State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

Man, they all better drop down to FCS!

Edit: before somebody comes back and says that's not a lot of teams - I obviously just pulled a few bigger names. We all know that San Diego State, CSU, New Mexico, UNLV, SMU, etc. all have lost to FCS teams recently as well - same goes for plenty of teams that level, whether you look at MAC, Sun Belt, or whatever...
