Western Michigan @ Wyoming CBI

Western Michigan held off North Dakota St. in overtime so Wyoming will host them next Monday night. If Washington plays I expect a Wyoming win in this one.

It is Washington's back. But exactly what? Did he pull a muscle? Get a bad bruise? Have a chronic problem with his spine?

I think the team can win without Leonard, they have been playing without him a lot recently. But obviously want Leonard to play. If we win this game are we in the quarter finals?

This game is the quarterfinals. If we win we are in the final four!

Pokes just have zero depth up front. As Shyatt noted in his post game press conference, we had to play Haldorson at the 5 and Sobey at the 4 for a while against Lehigh when Cooke and Nance picked up some foul trouble (and frankly Nance and Cooke themselves struggled to contain the bigs of Lehigh).

WMU has some bigs that can give us fits. Their leading scorer and rebounder is a 6'10" center (but a thinner build, no Colton Iverson, thankfully) and they are taller than us across the board.

On the flip side, they really weren't that great this year. Tonight's game was their best win of the season. Before that, they only had one Top 100 RPI win and that was Pacific (RPI of 97) by 5 and both the NDSU and Pacific games were at home. They haven't beat a team the caliber of the Pokes on the road all year.

Of course, if Washington doesn't play, then Wyoming isn't really that team themselves.

If Leonard can play and play effectively, the Pokes win. Otherwise, it's going to be tough. Probably won't shoot 3's that well again. We need to get to the line more and defend the interior better than we did against Lehigh.

Just checked the UW basketball online media guide on wyomingathletics.com and we never played Western Michigan in basketball before.

Bring on the Chippewas, I remember how quick and athletic the North Dakota St Bison were last year, that team kinda scared me, don't know much about WMU but I think we'll probably match up better against them, and think it'll make a better matchup. GO POKES see ya Monday!!!!!

That's Central Michigan. Western is a lovely brown and gold bronco:

I must say, I'm shocked Western Michigan beat North Dakota St. I watched them play South Dakota State and they looked pretty tough. Works out well for the Cowboys though! Hopefully Washington is healthy.

If Washington is healthy, or can at least contribute periodically throughout the game, we stand a good chance of winning. Otherwise, it will be extremely dificult.
