Well, came down to Rock Springs for a funeral but!

I met John Maffoni, who was a Guard for the 1956 Wyoming Cowboys who went undefeated and beat Texas Tech in the 1956 Sun Bowl! Really cool guy, and he even coached at my elementary school, St. Laurence. His wife's father was my great-great aunt's brother-in-law, so met him today and talked to him a bit. Still goes to every football game he can.

Wyoming fans are like abused wives. Why do we keep going back?

Oh, I agree, it is cool. I was just making what was probably an inappropriate joke in your post about traveling to a funeral. Sorry to learn about your loss.

It's alright. She had a good long life at 96 and went peacefully in her sleep at home.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry about your loss.

I looked up the 1956 team. They actually passed on the Sun Bowl in hopes of a better bowl...never got an offer and never played a bowl game. But, the 1955 team played in the 1956 Sun Bowl and beat Texas Tech.

No worries. I was actually just happy to contribute. Usually, I just read and learn here.

Like I said before, I did my undergraduate degree at the University of North Dakota. I know a LOT about the Fighting Sioux. I did my master's at Wyoming. But, for some reason I didn't get heavily involved in going to games, etc...hmm... Oh, that's because I was buried in reading and writing papers. I have a lot of Pokes gear, but not a great amount of knowledge, so it's great to learn from you folks.
