Week 2 Studs and Duds [Poke Pride]

I like the weekly write up...but his offense "dud" pick is way off base. Sounds like he wasn't at the game, and only read the stat line. I would have given the "dud" award to the coaching staff for end of the first half clock management. If you can call it management. LOL.

He seems to have some inside hatred for AA why i'm not sure but I'm happy we have a productive backfield and AA is still productive on the field regardless is it's YAC or catching out of the backfield.

this

and there's no stats for how well a RB does blocking the pass rush

I think he's just going by who had the worst performance out of all offensive players. And most carries for the least yards is under performing all others. i thought he played good too. Especially his catch to keep the drive alive.

Alvester still put up 113 yards of total offense so he is hardly a dud for that game ( all three running backs look good to me).

"""Muhammad carried the ball only 10 times in the game but made the most of every one of those carries. On those 10 carries Muhammad rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown. Those are impressive numbers and it is nice to have a running back that does not go down at first contact..."""
It's hard to pick an offensive dud when you drop 45 points. But this does come off as someone who only saw the stat line. Ghaali didn't have a good game so much as he had two good touches in garbage time. Of his 10 carries, the first 8 he gained 17 yards, a bit over 2 per carry. So it's hard to say that he really made the most out of every carry. The last 2 carries were when the score was 30-10 and 38-10 and he ran for 56 and 50 yards. I'm not taking anything away from Ghaali (2 50+ runs), but AA was having the better game up until that point. Having said that, this column (Studs and Duds)is my favorite write up after the game!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the compliments and complaints that is the only way that I can make this column better. I will admit this past week I only saw the first half of the game and did use the stat line for research, that comes from my days of covering NASCAR back east after the race was over to pump an article out you hit the stat line.

For the upcoming week I have another idea as I can use any and all help that I can get. I am going to put a running thread on PokePride.com and you can go there and vote for who you think should be the stud and dud and even explain why. I will put the article off an extra day to give time to get the feedback and whoever has the most votes will be the one to win the award of Offensive Stud/Dud, Defensive Stud/Dud and Special Teams Stud/Dud.

This will hopefully give me extra insight into the game an another way at looking at the game and hopefully I will see things that I miss otherwise.

I will post a reminder and link here later this week to the thread for voting of each Stud/Dud.

Thanks for all of the great feedback good or bad I love reading it as it is the only way to improve anything.

Thanks,

Matt

I have always thought AA was significantly under-rated (maybe by our own coaching staff). He just seems to make plays. His style isn't really flashy but he has broken off a very high number of big plays (in an offense that has had a lot of issues) during his time at UW.
