We obviously have good players. Why are we not seeing more success? Thoughts?

We have a lot of players in the NFL - why haven't we had more success?

Hmmm... Kind of hard to answer this without some sort of benchmark. I mean there has got to be some sort of correlation of pro talent with wins/losses.... Perhaps someone could come up with some sort of metric.... Like expected wins based on draft picks over any given three years.

It still takes a complete team to beat bsu. The years our offense produced, our defense was just ok. The years our defense has been good, our offense struggles. We might have a decent run game but lack a passing threat. Etc. etc. Incomplete teams can have decent seasons just not great seasons. The offense has to do better. Our best teams under Bohl where when the offense was in the upper part of the MWC and the defense was just so so.
It is taking a little time to get the consistency in recruiting, development, etc. on both sides of the ball. Hopefully we are getting there.

I would also add that the impact of professional talent on a football roster is a lot smaller than in a sport like Basketball. What if you had 2-3 professional level players on a football roster and then doubled that the next year? You would probably do somewhat better but it would depend way more on the other 60+ guys on the roster. Now in basketball... the difference between having one drafted guy on the team vs two drafted guys is immense....probably the difference between being on the bubble and being a lock for the sweet 16.

Agreed with others that we have never really had a 'complete' team. The year Wyoming had a bunch of offensive players make the NFL (2016), the defense was really young. The NFL talent on that 2016 defense were all freshman and sophomores in 2016. It would have been a lot of fun to watch the 2016 offense with the 2018 defense.
But Wyoming has sure had a lot more success in the past 5 years than it averaged over the previous 15 or so.
