UW-UNM predictions

Watch early on for what I think will be the key to the game: Is Brett getting the protection he needs to optimize his throwing? I suspect the NM strategy is to put maximum heat on him and to hell with the Poke run game. Poor protection, no win. Simple as that.

42-24. Carrier breaks a few off but we do better than most teams have at containing him, and Brett and the offense have a fire going from the opening snap

Defense needs to get some stops. Doesn't have to be striaght 3 and out (but would be nice), but they need to get stops on UNM.

The o-line needs to keep pressure out of the backfield in order for the offense to be successful. That means pass protection and opening up holes for the ball carrier.

The offense, in conjunction with the defense getting stops, needs to score early and often. Get up by 2-3 touchdowns and get UNM out of their comfort zone will make it easier on the defense to do their jobs.

No turnovers either, especially early on in the game. You don't want to give a triple option team more time with the ball than absolutely necessary.

21 - Wyoming
17 - New Mexico

I'm actually worried it could go the other way if NM can get a few stops and control the ball with their ground game. But I've had this game as a win all year, so I won't change it now.

Historically, DC has his kids ready to play after a bye week. The Pokes should win this one, but it could be closer than the books here in Nevada think it might be. Field position is critical. If NM has to drive 80 yards for a score every time they get the ball, I like our chances. If they have a short field, I think we could be in trouble.

Wyoming - 27
New Mexico - 21
