People were moaning and groaning over hiring Shyatt? Well, I for one, am REALLY liking how things are going already.

I agree, I like the hire. Especially as that department (UW Athletics) has such a pathetic track record with hires / fires.

I have to admit that I didn't really understand all of the moaning and groaning about the hire at first. I now realize that there are people with long memories who felt betrayed, used and just plain pissed off when Shyatt left. Some of us have gotton over that, others for whatever reason haven't. For others, there was a personal agenda in wanting Burman to go a different direction (Gosar, Cox). There's a big discussion about that on the other board right now. Personally, to quote WyoPoke on the other board, I think Shyatt was a "jackpot hire." For me the question regarding Gosar et al, is, if these guys are such hot coaching commodities, why aren't their names mentioned in regards to other D-1 openings and opportunities? I'm confident that their time will come. I just don't think that time is right now and for Burman to gamble (think outside the box) at this point, he would have been committing professional suicide.

I loved Shyatt the first time around. I was a Sophomore at UW and was really upset that he left. Having said that, I was upset when they hired him this time around . I was upset because I wanted a bigger fish to come coach. Luckily, the second I started hearing what Shyatt had to say and reading interviews, I was over it. He sold himself to me instantly. After seeing the types or recruits coming to laramie and the ones we are going after, I'm real comfortable.
