UW/AFA highlights

Looked like pretty good showing from the Poke fans! One of our away games I've always wanted to make it to.
 
This was probably the funnest Pokes games I've ever been to. Quite a few fans were there and we were rowdy to say the least. I was super sad that the pre-game flyover was cancelled. The wind was some of the worst I've experienced at a football game. People can go on and on about snow and cold affecting games, but I guarantee you that nothing affects a game like 60 mph gusts. It's not a good thing when you play a team that passed a whole 5 times. We were fortunate to just put up 139 passing yards.
 
I was listening to Dave and Kevin on the radio and all the ref "conferences" were really pissing them off. Was it really bad live? Seemed like the crew called an ok game however.

Oh yeah. It was rather frustrating at times.

It was horrible live. It seemed that every time the pokes did something good, or the Falcons did something bad, well we better take a look at it and see if that really happened. It didn't seem like they reviewed anything that could have gone the Pokes way. Add to it that for most of the game, the ref's mike was out so you couldn't hear the result of the conference.
 
The ref conferences were aggravating. The AF fans around me called it "reffing by committee" It really took away from the game.
 
It slowed the game down and I hate that as a fan, but as an official (I officiate youth leagues up to high school) I have to say I am glad they took the time to discuss it to get the calls right.
 
It may also have been good to give our guys a quick breather...in those quicker games where the refs don't slow the game as much, our 'boys get worn way down by the 4th. It may not have helped em stay fresh, but it more than likely didn't hurt.
