Hey cuttslam you still think that arizona is a top 5 team??? :lol:

I bet Arizona goes down in the polls after an embarrassing week of basketball where they happened to pull out two wins.

They are undefeated, ya it was a bad call against CU.. but give it a rest... They beat a very good Florida team and they beat SDSU I just don't get how you call them overrated when they haven't lost.

I'm sorry a very good Florida team? Please tell me you are just being sarcastic now. Florida got beat by KSU who we got leap frogged by in the rankings by all because they beat Florida. I stand by what I have said, But I won't beat the horse to death anymore.
 
I find it irritating that Arizona is #3 in the country, extremely overrated, while Wyoming, with a similar resume is not even ranked.

I think it sucks that these guys are playing this hard and do deserve some type of recognition and are getting none. I don't care about the other teams and what they are rated at imo the one team this year that has proven themselves is Duke they deserve the top spot and I'm glad they are in it.
 
I don't think its as much disrespecting the UW basketball team, but more the schedule. Its not unfair to think that a lot of teams could be 13-0 with the schedule the Pokes have played. Compared to the other MWC, its very very weak. This will all sort its self out.....like I posted a week ago...beat BSU, FSU, and UNR....and there is no way the pollsters can ignore 16-0. If they beat SDSU after that, Wyoming could shoot up the polls fast. Its not Wyoming's talent or ability that's being scoffed at, its the resume. Its like having a 4.0 GPA, but they took nothing but 100-level entry classes.
 
Arizona has history and a reputation. Polls will always have that element to them. No one should be surprised by that. It's silly to be butthurt about it. We haven't been to the tournament in 10 years, no one is going to instantly jump on our bandwagon.

People on this forum get irritated by SDSU football fans acting high and mighty with their recent success without proving it long term. This is no different. Let's not be SDSU fans.
 
I might be reading it wrong but I think there is a big difference then thinking @ 13-0 we deserve a ranking vs thinking we are above the entire MWC after 2 20+ win seasons. But I do agree I would never want to be looked at like an SDSU fan.
 
All I'm saying is that we are a surprise team. We haven't been good AT ALL in many years. There's no reason to expect to get respected because we've beat everyone on our patty cake schedule. We shouldn't worry about getting ranked, the team is obviously doing fine without it. I'm sure Shyatt could care less, he's just focused on the next game.

There's definitely no point in wasting our energy on Arizona.

I agree completely like I said take care of the schedule and in due time people will have to notice it like it or not but no reason to expect to see Wyoming in the polls outside of just getting votes.

2. Overrated? they're undefeated with a very young team
3.Top 5? Maybe, we will see in march
4. I don't rally care about the polls, I care about march

Agreed Beaverpoke: Although the transitive rule doesn't always hold up, it does say something. I was at the AA watching our Pokes beat Colorado by 8 points; and I watched Colorado play at Arizona, pretty much dominating, until a end-of-game collapse puntuated by a horrible ref reversal of a game-winning shot by Colorado. In short, just based on facts, this year's Wyoming bball team can be indeed talked about in the same breath as Arizona. Frankly, I think both teams deserve something in the 15-20 rankings: Wyoming is underranked; Arizona overranked. And frankly SDSU should've had Arizona too--saw that one as well. Arizona is not a top 5 team! Sorry.
 
And agree with backharlow as well ... I understand why were not ranked. Take care of business against Boise on Wednesday, which won't be easy, and I think we will be. I'll be there!

A win Wednesday does nothing if they don't also win on Saturday in Reno--have to win them both.
 
Yes a lot of people forget that the rankings come out on monday mornings...so, if we aren't ranked monday and win wednesday, we won't be automatically ranked.
I do think that we get into the polls tomorrow when the rankings come out.
Too many Top20-25 teams lost for us to not slip in there. And even if we don't we will be 26th.

The main problem with that is the teams getting votes around us all won.

UNLV 52 votes they are likely to move into the Top 25.
North Carolina 38 votes they are likely to move into the top 25.
Temple 21 votes and they play KU tonight, they win they move into the top 25 they lose they keep getting votes.
Virginia Commonwealth 15 votes they won't move into the top 25 but they had 2 wins since last polls they will get more votes.

While we beat SMU people won't give us credit for it as being a good win it's just a win. I think we will be sitting strong @ 26. I just don't think people are willing to give us more credit than 26th.
