@BroncosItaly: is Wyoming ready to contend with New Mexico, San Diego State, Colorado State and UNLV in the Mountain West?

They are right, only time will tell. It's going to be a fun ride though!

Now it's time to prove we can contend with them though. To do that we need the backing of the University Admin and the State of Wyoming (including the people of Wyoming). Without that commitment, we might just as well join forces with Idaho & N. Mex St.

Well, with Pitt's loss to Rutgers today, we should make the Top 25 on Monday.

Probably not in either poll. The Pokes will move up a little bit in both polls, but they won't be seeing a number next to their name come Monday. Vegas and North Carolina will be in the Top 25 while Pitt and Oklahoma State will drop out. The Pokes will probably be #26, (they are currently #28)in the AP next week.

In the Coaches poll New Mexico will probably drop out along with Oklahoma State with VCU--provided they beat Lehigh tonight-- and K-State taking their place. The Pokes will probably only move up to #27 or #28 in that poll--they are currently #30.

I actually think they will sneak into the top 25 this week. The only reason they wouldn't would be because the voters don't want to put us in yet because of the Martinez injury. Too many teams have lost this week and a couple of them twice for us not to be in otherwise.

I agree that there have been a lot Top 25 teams lose this week but several of them were in the Top 10-15 range and with them losing just one game this week they won't be dropping completely out of the Top 25. Illinois lost to Purdue and beat Ohio State today, but neither of those teams will drop out of the rankings. Same with Michigan State, who lost to Minnesota but then beat Purdue today. Georgetown probably won't drop completely out with their loss to Marquette, but Marquette might get a lot of love from the voters on Monday.

I will say however, that if NC State loses to BC today I think the Pokes might squeak into the AP Top 25; unless of course somebody like Temple or VCU leapfrog the Pokes in the polls.

I think we'll be #25 in the AP as well with #20,22, and 24 losing this week. We will see tho.

I guess I'm not completely convinced that New Mexico drops out in the AP--Saint Louis on the road isn't a terrible loss. Like you said we'll have to wait and see.
I think it's totally awesome we're even talking about an opportunity to be in the top 25, great for debate!

Not sure if New Mexico drops out or not but there is a greater chance of them dropping out now because Cincy lost on their home court today to an unranked 8-5 now (9-5) St. John's team who they were favored by 13 points over. Not a good loss to have on your home court. Makes New Mexico's win there not look as impressive. We will see how it shakes out though.
