Unlv game

Knapton will play DE exclusively and Korey Jones will play at LB exclusively. Good moves in my opinion, play Kurt T., Ben Durbin, Purcell, and Miraldo Michel at Defensive tackle. The lightest of that bunch is 270 plus, and the other three are over 280.

So, is it the 3-4 or 4-3 defense? Either way, Knapton is just to small to be a DT, but the right size for a DE, and Korey Jones is good for blitz packages by hitting off the edge.

Pokes will need some boss hogs up front to stop UNLVs back Cornett who had some success against the Pokes last year.

It will be the multiple D-sets we have running all year as I understand. Knapton played some at DT in the multiple sets (i.e. when K. Jones was in on blitz packages), but he still played DE alot. I like him way better at DE though, I think playing Korey at LB should help with size and by putting someone in who isn't afraid to hit (Kind of weird to have a LBs that won't like to hit). He can probably get off the block better when compared wtih our other backers as well.

Schmolt saying that Tashuan Gipson will start at safety and Blair Burns will play corner. Tashuan actually looked decent at safety during the USU game (although I have a hard time saying anyone on d was decent in that game).

Also, Hauck is benching his starting QB and starting the JC transfer Sean Reilly.

Did you see his stats from the Nevada / UNLV game?

1 for 14, for 8 yards, 0 TD's and I pick. That is pathetic. He should be benched. And maybe castrated.

You know, I'm liking these changes, especially since I have a feeling UNLV will try and do what Utah State did. Now we're essentially preparing for them doing exactly that. Hopefully it actually works, though.

i hope this works....but gut check changes like this start to remind me a little too much of the glenn-qb situation

Probably a desperation move to pick apart the Pokes very weak secondary. If that doesn't work, then they will toss it so that the LB's will have to cover. Either move is a good tactic for UNLV.

I consider my self an optimist most of the time, but I really can't see Wyo going to a bowl game this year. I honestly do not think we can finish 4-3. The three undecided games are ALL on the road. Cowboy nation, gear up for another disappointment year. Frick.

Wins
New Mex
UNLV

Losses
TCU
Boise State

Undecided
AF
CSU
SDSU

If UNLV was smart they would run, run (just like usu did) then throw the short pass to the flat (just like usu did) because our defense sits back and gives them a guaranteed 8 yard gain anytime they want.

That's all they need to know to score at will.

I can't see Wyoming losing this game. There will be an added revenge factor from last years trouncing in Vegas.

Expect more "Drop to the FCS" threads if they do lose though. One minute everyone believes Wyoming has the potential to be in the Fiesta Bowl by 2014, the next we should just shut down all operations and call it an era.

I can see us losing...if the UNLV team that trounced Hawaii shows up, we are fucked. Other teams get up for us, as they know it is maybe one of the few opportunities to get a W this season (sans NM / UNLV last year).

Maybe if the game were in Vegas....but they have to travel up to Laramie. It will likely be in the mid-50's to high 40's as the game goes on. I know you guys can handle it, that doesn't mean the boys from Vegas can.

Besides, CDC may have its faults, but he's not stupid. He realizes that a loss in this game almost seals his fate with Wyoming. Everyone can complain about past coaches like Koenning all they like....I've never heard of a Wyoming coach that lost to UNLV in two consecutive seasons. UNLV!!!!!

After what I saw on Saturday, I could see us losing every game here on out (including New Mexico). In fact, I half-expect to.

Saturday's game was not the norm. USU has never played that well and the Pokes had a bye week hangover. There is no way CSU would have come within 50 of USU the way they played on Saturday.

That being said, the Pokes aren't as bad as they played and the Aggies aren't as good. I still see us getting close to being bowl eligible. If we do, I wouldn't mind seeing USU again. That's right!

Actually, CDC seems as if he is sort of stupid. It may be his biggest fault. He may not want to lose two in a row to UNLV, but he just might not have the capacity to make sure it doesn't happen. We need the players to step up, execute and play their asses off regardless of the leadership. We could lose out and he wouldn't get fired this year. There are too many built in excuses, from new QB to new OC to injuries. He's got at least one more year. It's not like he pulled a Locksley!
