Unexpected Results

I don't know about you all.....but the result of the CSU game came out of nowhere for me. I always like to think out results before a game.....what if Wyoming plays well and Team A plays badly, or vice-versa. Or what if both teams play badly or well? I can honestly say I did not consider the possibility of CSU thumping UW like that.

What other results did you personally, good or bad....totally not see coming in previous Wyoming games? Unexpected win (Tennessee 2008) or unexpected blowout win (2010 CSU) or unexpected blowout loss (2013 CSU)....shoot away.

My unexpected results:

1.) I thought we would be competing for a Conference Championship title by now. I've been waiting for a long long time, and firing Glenn was the start and Christensen was supposed to be the path to glory.

2.) We aren't dead last in the conference - we seem to be treading water. Treading water is great until you wear out and drown. We need to get away from the boat wreckage and start racing the boat again.

This year, Nebraska caught me by suprise. I figured we would lose by at least 2 TD's. Texas State caught me by suprise - I thought we would win by quite a bit more. CSU - this is just a terrible, terrible, game.

Unfortunately we have had many more unexpected losses than unexpected wins recently.

Other Unexpected results: getting dominated by Texas State, losing to Cal-Poly, shutting out Virginia

The only "unexpected win" that we really have in the Dave Christensen era is the New Mexico Bowl over Fresno State (and that is debateable). Christensen's teams beat bad teams, lose to good teams and are occasionally upset by bad teams.

I suppose I don't get too upset when we go conservative - take a knee at the end of the half. Losing to BYU by 55 points and running the ball the last minute of the fourth quarter.

What upsets me - when the head coach bills the game as the biggest one of the year, and appears to be content losing by 30 points. That is unexpected - and unacceptable. We should have at least tried to close that damn margin.

2011's game against TCU. We ended up 3rd in conference, but a Tank Carter helmet-helmet and a PI call away from being co-champs. Yeah, we lost. But the effort all the guys put into that game was great! But Hendricks paid back the hit on Smith to a big hit on Casey Pachall.

2009 game against SDSU. HUGE comeback win to beat out SDSU. I'll admit, I turned the channel when we were down big, but as soon as I heard they were making a comeback, I was glued to the TV and watched them win!

63-19 against USU in 2011 was unexpected for me.

What is finally getting through my thick skull, however, is to expect to be mediocre with Wyoming football and basketball. It'll be much better for my health and stress level. If I expect conference championships, I'm going to die of an aneurysm at 35.

I agree. In a strange way I was happy to see CSU score on the very next play after our 4th qtr punt when we still were mathematically in the game. DC has historically played every game to keep the score close and has never put faith in the players to make a comeback.

I can't count how many times DC has made chicken shit coaching calls over the years. How many times DC has taken a knee with a minute left on the clock in a half and with multiple timeouts remaining.

I don't mind it too much - the last 3 or 4 years when you dig a big deficit - it is next to impossible to come back - and I can see not wanting to injure the entire team doing it.

This game however, you can read it all over the papers today, CSU had more heart and won the game. We may have been one good pass, one onside kick, one tackle for a loss, one serious moralizing play from staging a huge comeback.

CSU was the best team on the field last Saturday. Any other Saturday, I doubt it.

I just don't get it.. we have too many WTF games.. good and bad. Nebraska was a WTF game. Texas State was a WTF game. CSU was a WTF game. Under Christensen we've had too many WTF games.. most on the negative side. I would literally not be surprised if we rise up and beat Boise on the road then give up 45 to Fresno at home. Just that kind of year.

I think this was a fluke...but we were trending this way. CSU just wanted that game more. They were the better team on the field that day. But, like others, I think we win 7 out of 10. We had a 4 game winning streak, they had players on the team who had never even touched the "Bronze Boot". They were highly motivated and we looked like we didn't want to be there.

During the game there were game changing plays on both ends. CSU took full advantage and we didn't. For example, the int on the initial drive of the 2nd half. Wyoming could have made it interesting if we took that kickoff and drove for a score. Instead, the ball bounces of the receivers helmet and it gets intercepted. They scored soon there after. Same with the potential pick 6 that Wyoming could of had. It was right off the db's hands...and he had nothing but green in front of him. I counted a few others...like the 15 yard penalty after we stopped them. Or, the one handed catch for a td they had on a 3rd and long. And what is with Brett tossing these ball like he's playing 500. Throw the ball so Heron can catch it in stride. Just a bad fucking game all around.

How, in the name of all that is f'k'n' holy, do you trend to a fluke?

You sound like Madonna commenting on politics...
