The UND football program has spent a good portion of the last two weeks without the services of running backs Ja’Won Arrington, Brady Oliveira and Iwarri Smith.
Those three are among the top five options for the bulk of this year’s rushing workload. With those three sidelined with minor injuries lately, uncertainty has surrounded the running back position.
On Monday, as the team started to prepare for the season opener on Saturday at Wyoming, UND returned to health at running back.
Arrington, Oliveira and Smith were all in pads and participating in drills.
“I think most of those guys will be back,” UND coach Bubba Schweigert said. “We were happy with the weekend. We had an off day (Sunday) and that helped. We’ll keep monitoring it, but we’re happy with the progress of Iwarri and Brady at this point.”
