Tyrell Williams...do we consider pulling the red shirt?

Does Shyatt even consider pulling Williams' redshirt if he thinks he'll make a difference in a tournament run?

WW

i would say highly doubtful, unless there's an unforseen injury and I'm sure hoping i'm not jinxing anything, lol

That's a tough call. He hasn't been on the bench for a game or two. Shyatt says he's focusing on his academics. If he's having trouble adjusting to the classroom I don't think Shyatt will suit him up.

No, Shyatt won't and shouldn't consider it. They've already burned one semi-questionable redshirt with Barnes.

at the time we didn't know Al would come down sick, but when the announcement of the Big Nasty's leaving our team who woulda guessed that hurt us way more than it helped us. if nothing else than having another big body off the bench,....sigh...lol

The bench will do its job - they're good athletes with excellent coaching.

Time to BEAT THE SHEEP.

No. I would have said no, even before the recent news that he wasn't on the bench to focus on academics, but with that in mind there is no way.

I was disappointed to see Barnes not redshirt, but without Herndon or Sellers available he will get a chance to play a little bit from here on out I would imagine.

So didn't someone say something about Shyatt wanting Barnes and Williams to be different classes hence the red-shirt for Williams?

If that is the case, I assume Shyatt made the decision to play Barnes because he thought we was more ready to contribute in case he HAD to. He didn't know how Larry would respond, he didn't know Sellers would quit, he didn't know Herndon would get sick. But as a coach who has coached as long as he has, you know he anticipated something like that happening.

So since it did happen, I think he is ready to have Barnes play. That is why he was never redshirting. He was more ready than Williams.

Guess I didn't answer the question. Williams' redshirt depends on Hank. Hank will start at 3 but will cover the 4 so that LN and DC get a break. As long as Hank (and to a lesser extent Barnes, who I think will play some) plays reasonably well, and no injuries or serious foul trouble for our bigs, Williams won't lose his redshirt. He'll be our 5th man up and won't play unless necessary.

I think I am starting to hear pathetic sheep sounds from bleatnation.

Pulling Williams' redshirt would be a dumb move IMO. As many have said, we'll most likely go with a smaller line-up with McM, Gorski, and Lieberman all getting more minutes. We'll probably see Barnes and Bentz on occasion too. Looking forward to seeing Gorski play a bigger role. I think the kid can score.

Beat the sheep!!

Go Pokes!

I'd go as far as to say that pulling Williams redshirt would be cruel. I'm not down with taking away a year from a kid that expected it off. He would've been able to fight for a spot the whole way and then this happens? Fuck that! Williams deserves his 4 full years with the Pokes that he's already putting in the time for. Hope this redshirt pays off for him. Thanks a lot Sellers for even making this a topic.
