Jesus...are these 2 for real? They are missing the point...COMPLETELY. I am embarrassed for my state, my university, and my football and basketball teams, that we have such backward thinking individuals in such crucial positions at UW. That, and I guess they don't know that UW has "sold alcohol" on campus - in the union beer gardens - for more than 50 years. What an embarrassment!!!

Despite some of the revenue potential and support from city and university law enforcement, UW Board of Trustee Member Mike Massie said he had concerns about what kind of message selling alcohol at athletic events would send to underage students. Massie said he was concerned the university’s efforts to curb underage drinking and alcohol abuse could conflict with the introduction of alcohol at UW athletic events.

“There’s a longstanding cultural issue of alcohol abuse in Wyoming and how these students bring that tradition down here to campus,” Massie said. “It’s been demonstrated in so many ways on campus over the years, not to mention the eight cross country runners who were killed.”

Trustee Michelle Sullivan also voiced concern about the appearances of alcohol sales, asking, “What kind of conversation happens with plans like this with larger student campus on life in terms of how we’re modeling responsible alcohol or no alcohol use over the course of student life?”

Just like Congress not being obligated to obamacare and social security like the rest of us, I'd bet these two indulge in a drink or two (if they were to be troubled going to a game) from their perch in the Wildcatter.

Mike Massey's always been a statist twink who does the dishes and rubs his wife's feet every night while channeling his inner woman. The guy has all the sack of a Roman empress's eunuch court. He reminds me of Beavis and Butthead's granola-boy teacher.

His son was a complete pot head and drunken fool in high school. Married the first girl to kiss his winkie.

That's the funniest shit I have read here in a long time!

Thanks for sharing, hilarious!!!

Hilarious, yet it opens so many questions: usually you see those two happening to different people. The sheltered kids whose parents are "good Christians" always appear to be the ones getting married super early (and quite often, when they seriously shouldn't get married), while the pot heads/drunkards are usually single until they sober up in their 30s, after sleeping around and collecting the alphabet in their nether regions.

Both of those quotes are idiotic. It makes me think that both of them are old enough that they we're governed by a drinking age of 18, not 21.

Selling alcohol at the games does not in anyway effect underage drinking. The people under 21 that want to drink are going to come to the game drunk with a bottle in their crotch, boot, purse....They're going to leave at half time to continue to drink. They're going to find alcohol anyway they can. They aren't going to be able to buy that alcohol in the stadium. They still aren't 21.

Not serving alcohol in the stadium only effects attendance and revenue. People leave so they can go drink at half time and they don't come back. We would win more games if we had the same attendance in the second half of games as we do in the first half of games. We don't. The stadium empties at half time so people can go have a beer, and never fills back up, killing the atmosphere and revenue generated by the games.

Local liquor stores benefit the most from the lack of alcohol sales at games. Part of the current tradition is to stop at the LQ before the game starts, pick up alchohol, drink it, and smuggle the remainder of alcohol into the stadium. Grown adults do that EVERY game in Laramie. There's a reason why the stadium looks like a bottle graveyard after the game ends. The majority of those bottles aren't from underage drinking. They're from legal drinkers that don't want to sit in the Wildcatter. Yes, underage people are smuggling bottles in too. That's not going to change if they sell beer inside the stadium.

The legislature are such hypocrites. We have to listen to most of them bitch about the budget commitment for athletics, yet they refuse alcohol sales, so the profits go to local liquor stores, and the state has to pay MORE to the university for the athletics budget.
