How does this football recruit's 110 High Hurdles time compare to current team members' times?

Leppke has less to prove in track and field after putting himself on the recruiting map as a junior, when he finished 12th in the state in the 110 high hurdles in 14.55 seconds. He also earned a trio of top-six finishes at the Central Section Masters meet, placing second in the 110 high hurdles (14.58), fifth in the 300 intermediate hurdles (40.21) and sixth in the high jump (6-3).

In addition to the scholarship offer from Fresno Pacific, Leppke has an official recruiting visit to Iowa planned for October and has also received interest from USC, Cal, Northeastern, Eastern Michigan and Brown.

“I feel my body was made for (hurdling,)” Leppke said. “It’s been easy to pick up on. I am pushing to get top three in state this year. I want to get faster and hopefully get some more track offers.”

For a college track athlete those numbers aren't spectacular. The 110 hurdles and high jump would be Top 5 in Wyo high school, 300 hurdles would be a bit lower. So decent athlete, but no phenomenal all-star.

His 110 hurdle time would have placed him around 7th in the MWC Outdoor T&F Championship last year. Not bad for a high school senior. And would have easily won the Wyoming 4A title last year.

I understand some 2-sport guys, like the USC football player doing track this year in hopes of qualifying for the Olympics. But with how much weight this guy will have to gain to see the football field, I don't think he can afford to miss winter conditioning for indoor track or spring football for outdoor track.

I think NCAA hurdles are a bit taller, but, yeah. His 110 time is outrageous. He's run 14.3 before. The only others in the past decade in Wyoming to run faster than his 14.58 mentioned above went to high major track programs, Villegas, Cellez and Ames.

It's weird that his strait 100 is so slow (12.1).
