Top 25 Coaches Poll

This shouldn't surprise anyone at all, We have no chance of being top 25 from here out unless we run the table. I'm not going to get into anymore but that SMU loss was a horrific loss. CSU took our place in getting votes and they continue to win.

We don't need to run the table to get into the Top 25...

That is your opinion and I disagree with it however I'm not going to argue why but we can look at this thread in 2 months and see what has or hasn't changed.

If we are let's say...20-2 you don't think we will be ranked?

20-2 would be pretty much like running the table so yes at 20-2 i think we would.

If we win the rest of our games in 2014, we will be in the top 25. Guaranteed. We would be 13-1 with wins versus CU, NMSU, @Cal, and UNLV. Honestly, the only reasonable hurdle to achieving this record is on Wednesday in Berkeley, which is a game I expect Wyoming to win because Cal is reasonably talented but isn't coached by a legend.

Nic Moore = Steph Curry

You can deny it all you want, but that kid was making shots on Friday that a lot of pros wouldn't make. It just makes me laugh how you think that both SMU and Wyoming suck. How shitty was the 2001-02 Wyoming team that got their doors blown off by Detroit-Mercy, lost to a very average USC team, got beat pretty good by a very average Texas Tech team, and lost to a horrible Boise State team on a buzzer beater? That team played 5 non-conference road games and lost 4 of them. Their only non-conference road win was at DU - by 3.

Anyone that is quitting on this Wyoming team is a moron.

As I mentioned...not sure I give a shyatt about being a top 25 team in December (or November) - or January, and maybe February even.

March though? You bet.

No one at any point ever said Wyoming sucks or even hinted that they played like shit and it was embarassing, But SMU doesn't impress me at all. They were knocked out of the top 25 for losing games. You can't sit here and talk about how the SMU loss was a good loss. A good loss imo is a top 10-15 conference loss, a good loss is not a unrated team loss.

Now it's like beating a dead horse, You have your opinion and I have mine. I didn't say yours is wrong but I don't agree with it and I don't expect you to agree with mine. So let's quit beating the dead horse and hope they don't play Cal with the same effort.

This +1000. These top 25 discussions are ridiculous.

Actually the way Nic Moore was hitting those tough shots he reminded me of Chris Jackson aka Mamoud Abdul Rauf in college at LSU. He didn't score as much as Chris Jackson but he was pulling up and draining shots that were tough. I'm not saying he is as good as Chris Jackson was in college either but the way he was hitting those shots reminded me of him.

Of course Chris Jackson averaged 30 points a game as a freshman in college and would have scored 40 points on Wyoming the other night.

I get that Moore had a great game, but saying he is equal to Steph Curry is utterly ridiculous.

Except they aren't.
They matter.
They matter to recruits.
They matter for media attention, and national coverage.

Wyo fans are all too happy to see Wyo on ESPN against Boise so we can get blown out by 50 because we got a half million bucks and got national coverage, yet don't think that people seeing our name in the Top 25 matters.

A ranking in the Top 25 doesn't mean anything in terms of winning the MWC, but it does matter for several other reasons. Bragging rights. Recruiting attention. Coverage.

Sorry to disagree, they (top 25 rankings) don't mean shit in November / December, and maybe also January & February. To think that outside of the most passionate fans, the current players / coaches / admin (some of anyway), a potential recruit looks back and says, wow - I want to go to Wyoming because back in December 2012 they were ranked in the top 25.

Why are there only 2 groups Beav, that is kind of insulting man.

1. Fans thinking seeing our name in the top 25 doesn't mean shit (in November - December, etc., if you read it right).
2. Fans that enjoy seeing Wyoming on ESPN getting their asses kicked (football?)

Shouldn't there be fans that think the top 25 in December is laughable, and that also think ESPN blowout is not a good thing? And what about fans that want that top 25 ranking so bad it gives them a massive erection, and they also get that same massive erection when Wyoming gets beat by 50 on ESPN? And some of both, and some of none?

Agree 100% I know for a fact that my bosses son checks top 25's weekly rankings every week and has since he started getting noticed for Basketball. He checks to see how all the schools he is interested in going to are doing. Believe it or not some athletes go to school to get to the next level not for an education.

So yes rankings matter when it comes to recruiting, publicity and exposure and to think otherwise is just mind boggling. Now do ranks right now matter what happens in March sure they matter they have an impact in every way shape and form when determining the NCAA field but they have no bearing what so ever on the MWC that we can all agree on.

There you go. If a recruit (does he have a chance at Wyo?) is looking at them, and notices us being ranked and not someone else, then it helps our cause.

Bragging rights? I'm, sorry, but there's nothing worse than someone bragging about top 25 ranking in December, only for the team to fall apart in February/March. McPeachy already responded with what I'd basically say.

I don't even know how you ended up on the ESPN Boise St. football game when I was responding to the ridiculousness of these basketball Top 25 threads in December, when in reality Wyoming never even entered the top 25. I guess maybe I'd get it if we actually entered the top 25, but alas it didn't happen, and once again everyone was putting the cart in front of the horse when Wyoming hasn't even won a road game yet this season.
