Toledo, you officially suck

I agree, we didn't have to stoop to their level and do a cheap shot, but having 1 of our guys stand up for Brett and make a statement sure would have been nice

Christensen is a far better man than me...I would have had some words with Campbell, if not a punch or two. That little weasel would have been chewing on plastic grass if it would have been me. And that crapweasel that gave the uppercut to Brett should have been looking out of the earhole on his helmet, with a shoulder pad serving as his cup. As I said in another thread, karma is hell and I can't wait for it to find Toledo.

I totally disagree 100%. It should have been all 5 Oline men kicking some ass from the very beginning. That would have been the statement. Not in our house assholes.

LawPoke, sometimes you have to go GANGSTER.

Remember when that tiny coach from FAU got in DCs face a couple years ago and DC almost made him eat the grass he was walking on?

Sometimes.. and I've seen this in college football before.. where an offensive lineman will eat a 15 yard penalty and knock some defensive player flat on his ass for something like hitting a QB late with no penalty after a play is over. Usually sends a message to the rest of the defense that late hits aren't going to be tolerated by the offensive line. Perhaps Nick Carlson needs to send a message like that in the future.

1000% correct! Where was the O-line when these shots where taking place? Carlson and Company need to go after these cheap-shot artists. I don't give a crap if the ref sees it or not, but if it happens, they need a beatdown regardless of consequences. (Use common sense though...don't pull a Blount.)

I wasn't at the game, so I didn't see this or any of the other suspect plays that weren't called. Judging from the picture only, it looks like a horse collar for sure. But it doesn't look as if Brett is fully down or out of bounds. Once a QB starts running he is simply a running back, with some safety valves (throw ball away, slide, run out of bounds). Brett doesn't seem to be the type use those options when he can get more yards, so the defense is going to come after him hard. Just as we do when other team's QBs take off. And the harder we hit them the more we cheer. If our coaches are going to continue to run Brett as they did ACS before him, this is the potential consequence. At least ACS had some experienced QBs behind him. Running Brett can be very effective, but also foolish, unless you truly do have faith in the back ups.

DC's Mantra since Spring ball is that this is our deepest team since he's been here. With the injuries we've experienced already we'll get to see if this is the case. There's never a good time to have multiple injuries to key players, but if there was, this is the part of schedule to have them.

Best wishes to Brett for a full and quick recovery!

night b4 I saw a Utah player have this same type tackle get ejected, so if that's in the ref's decsion time to get on the same page!!!

The lesson I've learned is that the refs don't always look out for the player's well-being, so your teammates ALWAYS should. If a team knows there will be hell to pay for a late hit on your QB, they probably will think twice. I don't know if anyone on the team reads these boards, but this should be a wake up call that it's time to quit thinking like a freakin' "finesse" team and start enforcing some will on opponents. I know that Brett wouldn't hesitate mixing it up with a 300 pound lineman that hit his teammate late. Have each other's backs while you execute your game plan, and this team will start being the force it SHOULD be.
