Why? NIL. Absolutely no way that we can compete with the Michigans, Bama's, TX etc.
Face it, UW sports ain't no big thing. Heck, we can hardly ever fill our lil' stadium on any given saturday. We need to step down asap on our own terms before UW gets in a situation where even the high schools will be above us

Umm, did you forget they set a season attendance record in 2023?
Not only that, but we are where we belong. The best of the rest (outside of the P4 that is). And ya, no shit we will never be able to compete with the deep pockets of Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, etc. But neither will about 80 other college athletic programs that are FBS. Those other 80 all closely resemble each other, and are competitive with each other.

The only reason I wouldn’t mind joining a conference like the Big Sky is because I think the UW football team could finally compete for a national championship. Probably not with the current coaching staff but a competent coaching staff could potentially lead the team to a championship. Schools in the surrounding states seem to vie for it every year.

I think the more relevant question will be do you sponsor football or athletics in general? With state and student support, WYO will be able to maintain and do well in the new MWC.

If costs skyrocket due to NIL and revenue sharing, we won't be the only ones evaluating feasibility of athletics. Even some of the big dogs are bleeding financially. That can't last forever.

College athletics are in flux and we do not know how things will ultimately sort out. Right now, I think the best course for Wyoming to take is to try to stay afloat by sticking with whatever is left of the MW and hope to survive.

Been saying this for years...time will be the determination factor with that jump...I wish at end of season if we made those type of playoffs we play in games that matter for a change

Stay put. The Big Sky will come to you lol.

Hi from UC Davis. Aggie football should be moving up to FBS / MWC in the next 5 years.

Come check us out at www.aggiesportstalk.com
Looking forward to MWC hoops (and most of all FOOTBALL when the time comes)

Is there a thread with other MWC message board links?
I have you guys, NIU, New Mexico, SJSU, UNL, Hawaii.....having trouble finding the rest to link on our board. I'm missing Air Force, UTEP, Nevada, GCU

www.wcsboard.com has become the de-facto board for the MWC/NPAC

UW fans think they're above the Big Sky. Someday we shall see if it comes along
I totally get it. Idaho fans had a real issue dropping down to Big Sky. I would have too.
I don't see Wyoming ever dropping down. There are a few Big Sky teams that might have to move up to survive- the way the FCS is fitting into the college football landscape these days.

Montana and Montana State are talked about often as FBS teams, but their tiny TV market holds them back.
Davis and Sac State have a better shot in the Sacramento market. Idaho could move back up again eventually.
