Time to hire a new overpriced head coach, a bunch of grad

assistants, and give them the smallest recruiting budget in the MWC to try to convince kids to live in the most boring and coldest city in the MWC.

I don't know why anyone is expecting change. We're not going to compete until we fund athletics.

Oh well, Burman gets to make another hire, pray for a miracle and never address the real reason why we can't win championships.

No question about it. Until the $$$ arrives, Wyoming is waiting for a miracle-making HC that would probably leave after a few years of astounding success anyways. It all comes back to $$$ and financial support from the higher-ups in Wyoming, both school and government.

Well right now, the higher ups past Burman would be the BOT, as we still don't have a President.

I don't disagree with the firing. That needed to be done.

I just think we're putting lipstick on a turd. If we pay our assistants grad assistant salaries were going to end up with grad assistant coaches and grad assistant results.

If we give the head coach a 2 star recruiting budget were going to end up with two star atheletes and two star results.

I've seen this before. The Wyoming mantra of do more with less doesn't work in college athletics, but it's not going to stop us from repeating the same prayer for a miracle.

We really got lucky as hell with Larry Shyatt in my opinion.
He got Duncan to leave UCLA for the same job.
That, is unheard of.
They came here because they love the state of Wyoming.

We need that in football.
We need someone who loves Wyoming already.
He doesn't have to be from Wyoming, but he has to love it already. He also needs to be respected by other coaches so they won't mind coming here.

Someone to win the fanbase, be able to make adjustments, respected by other assistant coaches, and to develop players.
Unless Nick Saban shows up, we aren't getting 4 or 5 star recruits, we need to be able to develop the players we do get.

Shyatt was 4-12 in conference play last year....lucky getting him? I am not so sure. We will have to see how good we are this year. So far, our signature win is Montana State.

There's no doubt we need to develop players. Still, with a half assed recruiting budget were going to have half assed teams. A private plane and a million a year more in recruiting is the least we need.

You don't know what you are talking about.
All you want to do is talk crap.

Here is the link to last years schedule. http://www.gowyo.com/sports/m-baskbl/sched/wyo-m-baskbl-sched.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Only 4 conference wins. And please review this years schedule. I called Montana State our signature win this year....who would you call our signature win?

Part of our success (if you care) is that our old head coach Gary Andersen took less money so that he would have more for his assistants. That had continued some with Matt Wells. He is one of the lowest paid head coaches in the ME. But that comes with getting more money for his staff.
We got lucky with GA in that he had that foresight.

We had no depth, and the Luke Martinez fiasco.

You are blind if you don't think the lack of depth from multiple starters transferring when he got hired, and the Martinez bar fight didn't derail the season.
They likely go 7-9 to 10-6 with Luke last season in MWC play.

This year our signature win is probably MTSU but then again we aren't even 1/3 through the schedule.
How many teams this season even have signature wins at this point?

But you are right, we should probably fire Shyatt while we are at it.

Dude, so your argument is that Christensen should have been fired two years ago? If you're wanting to hold Shyatt to some standard that you apparently think Christensen was held to, shouldn't Shyatt have another 2 1/2 years to build a body of work of the same length that Christensen had?

This last season though, our HC WAS our OC. And our DC was bottom of the barrel choice fired mid season, replced by our d-line coach. Who had never been a DC before. To his credit, he had the defense ready for USU. But the "special" teams and offense, were not.

Exactly, dumb to bring Shyatt up until he has been here 5 years, as the 5 year mark is the real time to gauge progress.

Yes, that is my point. If the new standard is conference championships, then the clock is ticking on Shyatt. We do not have a legitimate "big" and do not have one on the radar for recruiting. I don't think the team is there to win any conference championships in the next 2 years. And if your using "Martinez" as an excuse, then its not permitted. Last year Smith was devastated by injury. This year the defense and offensive line (last couple games) was devastated. No excuses. No mediocrity! Only conference championships.

We just signed a 6'10 250lbs Center from Colorado...

OK, then come back after the end of Shyatt's fifth season and let us know if you think Christensen got hosed.

Even if you do compare Shyatt to DC, at this point, roughly 2.25 seasons in, Shyatt has over a 62% winning percentage.
DC after 2.25 seasons had a 44.8% winning percentage.

21-12
20-14
5-2

vs.

7-6
3-9
3-1

If you want to do a straight conversion, back to back 20 win seasons is roughly the same as back to back 7 or 8 win seasons.

Most boring? Coldest city? Glad you aren't near recruting.
