"Throws Players Under The Bus" ? ? LMAO ! !

Since when did telling it like it is become this cry baby "throw me under the bus" mentality? You are a D1, full-ride, football player. You play a violent game, against violent people. Take your lumps, in private or public, learn from them, grow from them, and move on. This 8 year old girl soccer way of thinking - where everyone gets a trophy and a juice box - has NO place in D1 athletics, especially football.

DC can't say to the media that certain part of his team played like complete crap, because it may hurt their feelings? What has this world come to.

Anyone else out there, have their career tied to how an 18 year old kid "performs" on any give one of 12 Saturday's a year? I would be interested to know.

Didn't really get that vibe from him either.

And the blocking, well, anytime you pull a d-linemen and let 2 blitzers run through, that's not a good thing.

I didn't read it and see a whole lot of "busing", but what I DIDN'T see was any kind of mea culpa from DC. There's plenty of examples of good and great coaches "calling players out", but DC's developed the perception among many observers that he's unwilling to accept responsibility for production deficits. A CEO can blame his managers and physical plant for poor productivity all he wants, but when there's been several years to remedy the glaring and obvious deficits, the only one to be truly held accountable is her/himself.

I get it. It's a tough sport etc... Here's where I see the problem. The idiot, when asked what happened in the second half, basically says we didn't change anything and neither did they, we just couldn't block or tackle. That's another part of the problem we have here. Our head coach thinks, probably really believes, that these other teams go into halftime and make no adjustments in order to perform better in the second half. This is really bad and has nothing to do with how tough our opponent is or if they have better players or whatever. He's admitting that we do nothing at half (which I believe), but he also thinks our opponents do nothing as well. Mostly, we've had bad second halves this season. I wonder why?

I'm not worried about hurt feelings, but let's analyze the entire picture. Does he think he did his job well? It sounded that way to me.

I hear ya.

Just to be clear, I have never heard DC (or any of his staff) say that "Player X" sucked ass tonight. We have heard them say the O Line needs to block better, et al, but never has he trashed his guys. Or his coaches (specifically).

That said, you are right, he doesn't do the reverse much (if any) either...meaning he doesn't own his own shit. And he needs to, as ultimately it is his ass.

Actually, he probably does. Which either means he didn't do too well in school (not the sharpest knife in the drawer), or he is an overly arrogant prick...that believes his own shit is like chocolate ice cream.
