Thoughts from the game on Saturday

Unfortunately I was one of the many that paid to watch Wyoming shit the bed this weekend. I waited a few days to post so I could let the fury pass and gather my thoughts objectively.

1. The talent level on this team is there. We have players who play fast, play smart, and are legit threats on the field.

2. The loss is all on coaching. We need to blow up the defense and start over NOW. Offensively we needed to open up the playbook. From the middle of the 2nd quarter Cal Poly's safeties were 7 yards from the line of scrimmage. A deep ball or two would have really helped, but for some reason nothing other than a screen pass ever got thrown.

3. Kirkegaard had zero confidence. Every time he got pressured in the least bit his response was to roll out and throw it away. The poor guy looked like a deer in the headlights from the start. I also blame his lack of preparation on the coaching staff.

4. We won't win 4 games this season. It's gonna be a rough year. All we have to play for is the boot, and I'm not very confident we'll keep it.

5. Injuries are killing us. By the end of the game there were 7 starters in street clothes on the sidelines. That is no excuse for losing to an FCS school, but it sure as hell didn't help.

This is exactly how I saw the game also. Why beat around the bush about this game or sugar coat it?
