Back in the good ol' days, half of all college football teams did NOT go to bowl games. You can bet if you were in a bowl game in the 60's 70's 80's you were a legitimately good team. There were many, many 7, 8, 9, and 10 win Wyoming Cowboy teams that never even went to a Bowl Game.
So this is what really irritates me. I dislike seeing NEW MEXICO BOWL and LAS VEGAS BOWL etc...... up in the WAR with Sugar Bowl, Sun Bowl, etc... Honestly should the 2009 New Mexico Bowl team be mentioned in the same breath with the Sugar Bowl team?
With all the new dot.com, autozone, credit union type bowl games and every team that goes .500 making a bowl game why do the coaches get as much credit as the teams in the old days?
How come every article I hear about Dave Christensen mentions he is the first Cowboy Coach to take the team to a bowl game in his first year??? BIG FVCKIN DEAL!!!!
Or every time some ( 7-5) no name team makes a bowl game for the first time in 40 years, they think its a big improvement??? WTF, if they didn't make it easier to make a bowl game, the team would still not be in a bowl game, so your team is no better than they were the past 40 years.
Whats next, we hang banners up for going .500 in basketball too? :brick:
