The reason were THIN at Wide Receiver

Coach Bohl Fired WR Coach Kenni Burns in April of 2015.
Dameeko Doodles, Justice Murphy, Joe Parker and Tayton Montgomery were all freshman that caught balls as true freshmen without a WR Coach in 2015. Coach Bohl decided to put a Recruiter- Gordie Haug as temporary WR Coach. These 4 have left the program and the WR depth pretty bare. Why- Because Coach Bohl did not replace Burns immediately-

My worry is Coach Bohl might be doing the same thing with the Strength Coach.
Is there a Strength Coach??
What will be the consequences be without a Strength Coach??

Dennison left a while ago (or was fired ?)
It is not my concern that Burns and Dennison were let go for similar reasons (Female Complications)
Hell Bohl was rumored to have a problem at Nebraska just like this.
The Concern is should a Division I Football team go without a Full Time strength Coach for a Year ?
I think the result of not having a WR Coach for a year reared its ugly head Saturday.

Don't blame all of those guys leaving simply because we didn't have a permanent WR coach that year....you are trying desperately to connect dots without truly knowing if they connect. For instance, Dameeko Doodles left so early it wasn't funny, that had nothing to do with Burns. Joe Parker stayed for awhile and realized that he wasn't going to play much, so he transferred to Chatanooga so he could play earlier. Tayton Montgomery also left so early it wasn't funny. Justice Murphy from what I heard was not the leading WR even though he looked like he had a good future plus he got homesick. Keepitreal, and don't try to connect dots where they don't connect.

Players are going to leave because Dennison isnt' here? I haven't heard anything close to that happening. By the way, we aren't thin at WR.

Yeah, I don't think we are thin. We are inexperienced. More of them should have gotten in a little more last year but was pretty much limited to cj and price. We were in a championship hunt so I don't blame them for keeping the best out there at all times

I think we are thin at WR and it's a problem. Losing the great seniors we did and not having anyone besides freshman to step in, is a problem. We seem to have wiffed on several recruiting classes at receiver.

We returned 3 wr who have caught balls. The problem is they are still young and inexperienced. That, and James Price is out for a couple more weeks. Still, we had 4 receivers catch balls last Saturday. All either sophomores and freshman. Price is the only upperclassmen in the entire group.

We have a talented group of receivers. CJ Johnson made a mistake by dropping a td, but he is solid.

What this thread is failing to realize is we went up against a very experienced, Big 10 defense. A tough first assignment for these young and mostly inexperienced receivers and two true freshman Olinemen.

The game boiled down to a freshman mistake punting deep in Iowa territory, dropping the td pass, missed fg, and not generating much of a run game.

Both teams played great D. They outgained us by 30 yards.....the score was not indicative of the actual game.

Saturday this will be put to rest.

Go Pokes!

Doddles didn't have a catch and served a 6 game suspension...

Montgomery caught 1 ball, but was a walk on and wasn't going to likely see the field going forward.

Murphy and Parker saw time and would obviously add depth but that happens.. seems like a bit of a reach

The reason they haven't rehired a S&C coach is because the candidates you would get in late summer would be...less than lackluster. I imagine they will begin a formal search once the football season ends and they will get some quality candidates. We'll have to do without one for 6 months in order to get a good one for the future.

we'll see tomorrow against a FCS school, there's no reason they shouldn't outclass the Bulldogs, and hopefully they get some catches and then the preparation for the Ducks next week...

Wait, rumored to have the same problem at Nebraska? :orly:

First, I'm not sure of a problem at all but based on your post it seems you are implying Bohl fired people and did not replace them. Since he wasn't HC, I guess he could have fired a few GAs or something. For some reason, I don't think a GA vacancy would be that detrimental.

Maybe the dude that held the wires to his headset? That could be dangerous if that position went vacant for an extended period.

I dont think firing people is what he was referring to.. Talk to some Nebraskans, they'll fill you in on some extra curricular activities that may have been going on over there. Thats why I don't think we have to worry about Nebraska hiring him away from us.
