The Hawaii trap

This week there was a thread about the temptation for distraction for our players traveling to Hawaii. I think that was spot on. Never have I seen such a poor collective effort against a rag tag bunch of Hawaii Warriors. The So called "worst Qb " in the MWC had a career game. Their decimated receiving Corp routinely beat our secondary. Their 3rd string walk on Rb had a career day. Against an O line that was averaging the second most sacks in the league only gave up one to ( Riley lange). Our Dline gave absolutely no pass rush and the ends could not contain anything. That was just our defense. Now our offense had its moments, but the left guard and left tackle got beat routinely on the back side A & B gap on big third and short situations. I give huge props to the freshman Cummings. He gave Wick some great blocks and held his own. Pass protection was just Ok, but May whiffed on a cut block instead of going high to block the blitzing Lb. That was a field position killer.
I dont blame Kirk in this game he was good as was Wick and Claiborne. The rest got caught up in the Island fever. But I give Norm Chow and his players credit for playing hard and never quiting. Noble effort by the Warriors. They deserved it and made the adjustments at halftime to pull it out. We need to regroup and understand the importance of beating San Jose. This is a must win game if ther ever was one. Similar to last year's SJSU game, WE HAVE TO WIN THIS WEEK!!!

+1

Don't forget our special teams play, abysmal once again. We ran off the field instead of fielding punts. Hawaii consistently kicked the ball in the end zone, while our kicker was lucky to get it to the 15 yard line. Their punter was lights out....our punter, not so good. How bad is it when it is better to run off the field and not even try to get a return? :tickedoff:

I was wondering why we didn't use two punt return guys on each hash. At least that would've put someone in position to stop the roll. That is one hell of a weapon they have. The roll he gets is amazing. Oh and i wanted to change what i said above in regards to the left side of the line. It was actually the right side that was getting an ass kicking. The Freshman was pretty good.

I am not sure how to read this loss. A lot better Cowboys teams have gone to Honolulu and lost to similarly crappy Hawaii teams.

Except we made what is an otherwise bad QB look like a Heisman hopeful. That's not a good thing.
