I don't think it's fair to blame Kirk for the fumble in this last one. 73 totally blew his block and that LB was right up in Kirk's face before he even new it. And he got blasted on that hit. I couldn't quite tell, but I think he was already in his throwing motion which means he didn't have a great grip on the ball when he was smashed. I'm definitely blaming 73 for that one.

He started his throwing motion, stopped midway, then left the ball out there in one hand to be stripped. Kirk either needed to throw it away or cover it up. 100% his fault for not protecting the ball against a defender he saw coming.

It should not have been a turnover because it should have been a helmet to helmet penalty. Kirk may be a shitty quarterback, but he is one tough son of a bitch.

Based on what I saw, he didn't have time to cover the ball or throw it away. That LB came from behind several DLs and OLs and as soon as he hit the hole where 73 was supposed to be, he was already smashing Kirk. It was less than a sec. Not enough time to do anything.

You guys are arguing over 1 of the several turnovers that Kirk has been behind, and some may not be his fault but judging by the amount he has had, there is a reason to think he is at fault for quite a few.

What we have seen out of Colby the first 4 games is what we will get the remaining 8 (and hopefully 1 or 2 more).

Game manager, typically not effective passing the ball, ability to put together a handful of nice drives in a game.
Some games will have more turnovers than others, and some games will have more nice completions than others.
He stays in the pocket too long, and will typically only throw to Gentry or Rufran.
Wick and May will bail him out when the O-Line can get good pushes, but if not, then Colby will struggle hitting small windows.

But for the time being...we are 3-1 and Colby has 2 game winning drives, although 1 was all him, the other was a total WTF moment, but again at the end of the day he has 2 game winners, and we are 3-1.
