Tailgate Park to move?

I saw that on the ticket brochure. I was/am really hoping thats just in addition to tailgate park, kind of a more exlusive CJC member thing.

I heard they want to move it closer to the stadium and summit view lots to be closer to the tailgating scene there.

That's funny. When we were throwning big tailgates there the AD's hired security firm and the LPD did everything they could to make life miserable for us. It got to the point we just stopped last year.

There was a regular tailgate next to us in the Stadium Lot that some of the college kids did. At one point the jackboots got so overzealous that an LPD guy shot his taser at one of the kids. He missed and the kid, rightly, took off running and got away.

I throw a pretty good sized tailgate every game in the grass along 22nd street in the Summit View lot. The only run ins I've had with the cops were them stopping by to remind us that we couldn't have an open container after halftime.

When I was in college we did some stuff in the stadium lot as part of the Cowboy Tailgate Club a friend of mine started up, but never had any issues. I've never had any issues along 22nd street either. I enjoy being there, and will be there again next year next to WYO1016

nirv and I always have an open seat for anyone here! Drop by anytime! :thumb:

LPD is hilarious in their antics these days. Unfortunately, most college kids don't know their rights so the cops do what they please.

I thought the tailgate was more fun in the parking lot than at tailgate park anyway. It certainly was for the bigger games: Texas, Nebraska....

It's a good idea to move it to the IPF. The party will be set up right in the center of our athletics facilities. When the AA renovation is done, that area between the IPF, Rochelle, the AA, and the northern entrances to the War is going to look incredible. We might as well party right in the middle of it.

The practice field/tailgate park is kind of out of the way. It's behind a hedge row, so you can't see the party from the street.

I like the move.

...no open containers after halftime? WTF?

That's when you go inside your trailer, tent, csu-colored RV ;) and continue drinking.

Other fanbases can get away with drinking after half. Wyoming though...we tend to have to drink ALOT just to get through the game ;)

Tailgate was more fun in the parking lot - and usually is - you are correct. But not every parent / family with a 10 year old wants to hang in the parking lot and get shit hammered (with me). Granted, the IPF will probably serve just as well, but there is something to those few fall Saturdays outside that make the event what it is. Being indoors just doesn't strike me as a win. I think it will wreck havoc on that facility as well.

The hedge has been gone for quite a while Junky - 2 seasons - the exposure on Grand for tailgating was solid.

Tailgate park was its best when it was located next to the AA. There's still a grass area over there, but the old tailgate park was where the RAC and IPF currently stand.

I heard they're also making changes to upgrade the tailgating/atmosphere in the Stadium Lot. The primary tailgating location will be focused/encouraged in the first couple rows of parking alongside the IPF. That way, Tailgate Park, the Stadium Lot parties, and the Summit View parties will all be reasonably grouped together. I think it sounds like a good plan.
