Sutton has left UW

I hope those freshmen backs are as good as advertised. I thought Miller was very solid last year. Any idea if Ghaali moves back to RB or do we stay the course with the backs we have?

no loss in my opinion. watching him last year was painful in the few games he played. Way too small and not fast enough. He was a great high school player. He should be at the Div 2 or Div 3 level. Just my opinion.

I'm not going to bag on the kid for having his priorities straight. Family > football. Period. I wish him well.

P.S. For all of you hating on Kody remember: Marcell Gipson did essentially the same thing a few years back, then came back to play his remaining three seasons with his brother.

I don't know why everybody has to talk about what a poor/overrated player somebody is the second they leave. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. These are college kids, not professional players - this also means they have a much higher Internet presence, even though they may lurk rather than actually post.

Ya some pretty ruthless pricks in this thread, As far as his speed I'd like to see you run anywhere close to him. But I agree with the above posters, I hope whatever made him leave turns out ok and family is always first.

Kinda close to the season to make such an important decision. Maybe he had more competition than he anticipated? In any case, hope all is well with him.

That's why we have places like this... to discuss players. In my playing days I had some not so nice things said about me on message boards and such. You either give into it or rise above it but I never let it get to me, many times it gave me motivation.

Did you ever have to make a tough decision to leave the team and got trashtalked about because of that, though? I don't think it's a bad thing to discuss what players can improve on, or when they blow a coverage/route - the coaches will do that as well, after all. It's when players part with the team that I feel it's kind of a low blow to go after them...

...unless they make disparaging comments about Wyoming and the fans. Then they have it coming.

I say good luck to him. I don't think any of us know all of the facts surrounding his decision (and I obviously know none), so it is difficult to give an opinion on either way. It hurts us, because we really just dont have enough RB depth. At least he hasnt made publicly disparaging remarks about our program and state (that really irritated me when a former player did that after he was given an opportunity here).

I also agree with Cornpoke that these message boards are for this type of discussion. I don't care to see kids called morons; however, because we were all 'young and dumb' at some point.

The broader issue that I think has become more clear is whether we should continue to focus our recruiting efforts in Texas? I would really like to see an attrition statistic of TX recruits vs. other recruits. I like how this staff has went into the Pacific Northwest and it looks like we are doing better than expected in Colorado so far this year.

My opinions have nothing to do with his decision to leave. I have had first hand experience with this individual. He is not the type of person I want representing the team, the community or the university. This also has nothing to do with his athletic ability. Our recruiters need to make sure they are recruiting solid individuals not only on the field but also off of it. I support his decision to go back to his family if that's where he needs to be but I will not miss him.

Well said. I don't have first hand experience with Sutton like you do, but I have heard other comments along the same lines. It's possible the coaches helped him make this decision.

Who recruited Sutton? And who else besides LeBlanc will be recruiting Texas? This is one big knock I keep hearing and reading about Tormey in his prior stints at Nevada, Washington, Hawaii and Idaho. Olive seems like an extremely high character individual but would you care to comment on any other recruits Tormey had a hand in recruiting to Wyoming?

Personally, I'm of the opinion that Wyoming should gamble and take some chances on questionable character recruits if they might have a high value upside on the field... or court. I trust our rather experienced coaches to whip them into shape. Maybe I'm being naive.

Never around him personally, but I loved his highlights from high school and thought he had great potential. I'd be happy if he returned.

Miller and the rest will do just fine.

If you can judge character from twitter (can you?) he was the most arrogant player on the team. Dude wasn't even starting and basically thought he was one step away from pro. I doubt he has family issues. Not being able to cut the cord doesn't count as family issues. There are worse ways to leave as pointed out, but "family issues" is the easiest excuse to not get ripped for. It seems to me like Texas has a lot of family issues. If kids can't handle some criticism, then they should go ahead and squash any hopes in the nfl.
