So Long Keener. . .
Although he's only moving eight blocks away, we are sad to see Keener Fry leave the athletics department. But our loss is the Alumni Association's gain, and ours too for that matter. Fry has done an outstanding job in his second stint with this department as the Associate Athletics Director for Annual Giving within the Cowboy Joe Club development staff. He will do an equally fine job in his new role as the UW Alumni Association's Executive Director. We will look forward to working with him in his new capacity. Athletics and the Alumni Association work together on a number of projects. The University is fortunate that he is remaining within our halls.

Speaking of Football. . .
You do realize it is only 66 days, 20 hours (give or take), 15 minutes (give or take) and (you add the seconds) until the Cowboys host Weber State to open their 2011 football campaign. As always the home-opening weekend will be filled with events to the max. Not only is it Hall of Fame weekend (the dinner and induction ceremony is Friday night, September 2), but the lid-lifter is always exciting as the first live preview of the Cowboys for the season. That day will start with the Laramie Main Street Downtown Kickoff, which begins at 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Grand Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets and in the Plaza. For the opener (which kicks off at 7 p.m.), there's a t-shirt giveaway as fans enter the stadium, and a big fireworks show planned following the game. Tickets for that game are $35 each ($17 for youth).
