Hoops for a Cause. . .
Saturday's 2 p.m. basketball contest with Boise State will not only be a big game for the Cowboys, it will be a special one as well. The basketball program is very proud to be sponsoring the first-annual Cowboys vs. Cancer game. Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game for a special white out day. By sponsoring this event the coaches and players want to create awareness for cancer research as well as raise money for The V Foundation for cancer research. The V Foundation was created by legendary North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano and ESPN. Every cent of every donation raised by the foundation goes directly to cancer research.

The Ticket Office is offering a ticket package that includes a White-Out t-shirt and a game ticket for just $25. Ten dollars from each package goes to The V Foundation. Get more information here.

Don't forget that a week from today (February 28) is Senior Night as the Cowboys host TCU for the final regular-season game of the year in the Double A. That game also is Youth Day. Kids sixth grade and under receive free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. This offer is available up to two hours prior to tip-off, and not available at the game-day ticket booths around the Arena-Auditorium. Everyone does need a ticket to enter the game. Contact the ticket office at 877-WYO-FAN1 for more information.

League Leaders in Town Tonight. . .
Joe Legerski's Cowgirls won a huge game last Saturday by beating Colorado State in overtime here in the Double A. That great win made tonight's game with league-leading San Diego State an even bigger game. The Cowgirls have surprised a lot of people with their outstanding performance in conference play. Remember the game is a special start time of 6 p.m.

Tournament Tickets in the Mail. . .

If you were thinking about going and haven't purchased tickets yet, please call the Ticket Office (877-WYO-FAN1) and the folks there will help you.

Big Week for Swimming and Indoor Track. . .
Mountain West Conference Championships are coming up this week for both women's swimming and the indoor track team. The Cowgirl swimmers begin competition Wednesday at Oklahoma City, and the track team starts Thursday at Albuquerque.

The Cowboy swim team had a marvelous performance at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships last weekend at Los Angeles. The Pokes finished third behind Brigham Young and UNLV. They crowned four individual champions including Ethan Griffel who won two titles, the 200 and 500 freestyle. Senior Brandon Fisher won the 200 individual medley and fellow senior Marshall Dilworth won the 100 backstroke. The 800 freestyle relay team (Adam Kalms, Ryan O'Leary, Griffle and Jayce Calhoon) won the championship and set an MPSF Championship record. The Cowboys also set six new school records during the championships. . .what a meet for Wyoming!

Cowboy Joe Club News. . .
Two of the Club's fund drives come to a conclusion this week. Last night Laramie County completed a very successful drive and tomorrow night it's the wrap-up for Natrona County.

Eight days are left for you to take advantage of the on-line auction. There are still excellent items remaining. Check it out!

There's still time to register for the Club's Sun and Fun Weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona, in late March. A Rockies' Spring Training game and the Scottsdale Golf Tournament will make it a memorable weekend. The event is scheduled for March 23 and 24. The Rockies-Chicago Cubs game is set for that Friday and the tournament at the beautiful Talking Stick Golf Course is Saturday. Please contact the Cowboy Joe Club at 307-766-6242 for more information and to register. The added bonus for the tournament is that former Cowboys and now NFL players Chris Prosinski, John Wendling, Mitch Unrein, Malcom Floyd and possibly Derrick Martin will be attending the event.

Around the Chutes. . .
The Cowboy golf team hosts its UW Desert Intercollegiate this weekend at Palm Desert, California. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The Cowgirl tennis team takes a weekend from competition before hosting a pair of matches on March 2-3. The Cowgirls will host Denver on March 2 and Wichita State on March 3, at the Indoor Tennis Complex. The Cowgirls won their home opener last Sunday, beating the University of Idaho, 5-2. They won all three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches. The Cowgirls are 5-4 overall.
